I visited this resort when it was a Four Seasons, and was blown away. The rooms were incredible, I had one of the best meals ever in the main dining room, and the golf course was tone of fun. I just wish I had had more time to explore all the different activities offered. Kind of a pain to get... More

My wife and I recently stayed for a few nights & we will definitely be heading back soon. Perfect spot to relax after a few days in frenetic Buenos Aires. We both enjoyed the spa and the Carmelo Country Club. The staff couldn't be more accommodating (especially Horacio in the restaurant), visit the Narbona Winery for a tasting & dinner,... More

We stayed for three nights at this hotel in December 2014 and it was the perfect place to get away from it all and truly relax. The pool area is a lovely tranquil oasis to relax and the sun loungers were extremely comfortable. There is no beach area which wasn't really an issue for us but worth noting if you... More

Don't read too much into Ed C's review below...he obviously had a chip on his shoulder. After reading his review we were concerned about whether the resort would meet our expectations, and after two wonderful days there, it did so in every way. Having travelled extensively in Uruguay, as well as many other parts of South America, this is truly... More

We recently stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. It is truly paradise on earth, a tranquil oasis to relax and enjoy. The environment is breathtaking, we have rarely seen a hotel in such a nice setting. On top of that, the service is excellent. Are all people in Uruguay that nice? The pickup at the ferry station was perfect,... More

This was as good as other Four Seasons where we have stayed. The bungalow with a view was a delight. We,too, had a problem with bees in spite of indoor and outdoor efforts by housekeeping and the grounds guys. We were moved to a two floor suite and were treated to a very, very late check out. All staff are... More

My wife and I recently stayed in a bungalow at the Four Seasons in Carmelo for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The resort was very well maintained and the staff were excellent. Our bungalow was huge, extremely clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious. A special mention to Hoarcio and... More

We spent 4 nights at Carmelo and enjoyed it. Yes, certain aspects point to an aging resort in transition (some tv problems, weak internet, the food wasn't spectacular, some updates are needed on the physical plant. Overall though, we loved it - the grounds are spectacular, the river is peaceful, and the staff is super helpful.

Don't be fooled by the pictures on the web site, or the name on the door. This is not a Four Seasons Resort and the Four Seasons company should get their name off it as fast as possible. I have stayed at more than 20 Four Seasons properties, so I know what to expect. This could be a beautiful place... More

Dear Ed C, I am very sorry to hear that you did not have an enjoyable stay with us. It was announced that effective March 31, 2015, Four Seasons will be concluding its management of Four Seasons Resort Carmelo. Four Seasons is a management company that operates the Resort on behalf of the Resort’s Owner; we mutually agreed that the... More

This is a charming resort. The rooms are spacious (though not quite as spacious as the photos on the website imply). The staff in all areas of the resort went above and beyond to make things perfect. My only complaints are regarding the food in the main restaurant which I found to be a bit fussy and overpriced, and the... More
