This is a fabulous hotel. Please know that hotel is 900 meters/3000 feet up a mountain, and it's a steep drive. This means that it's not a good location for exploring Al-Ain or going back and forth. A very pleasant hotel, typical Mercure standard (definitely 4 star & not 5 as some books claim). Rooms are quite small but well designed internally. This beautiful hotel had great views of Al Ain and into Oman. The pool was fun and clean with a swim up bar. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and yummy. The hotel has an absolutely prime location almost at the top of Jebel Hafeet, the only “mountain” in the UAE (although being from Iceland we’d call it a hill!). Once again I cannot recognise the hotel from some of the reviews. We found the staff extremely helpful at all times and they certainly smiled at us (maybe because we smiled at them.....). You can't probably waste a great location better than this! It's a unique property as you have to drive some 15-20 minutes towards the top of the mountain where the hotel is built. Breathtaking views, atmosphere and unique possibilities all absolutely wasted by mismanagement. The only positive part was the GM who listened to our comments with a kind smile.... more
