As part of a visit to Aghtamar Island, we stayed with a group of people in this very comfortable hotel. The entire hotel was very clean, rooms were modern styled and decorated. Room was equiped with a clean bathroom, all kind of lights and airconditioning. Two points of attention: make flatirons and ironing boards available in all rooms and wifi... More

Excellent hotel for this price range, clean, new rooms and and extremely helpful manager who speaks excellent English. Although I agree with another reviewer that juice at breakfast would be good. Five stars.

After a rebate I got the room for 100TL which is acceptable. Rooms are ok and clean (but not brand new). The (bad) surprise came as I needed to get onto the Asia Express train.... and a 'taxi guy' recommended by hotel manager took me up and down stupidly (call it rip off if you will) with his taxi to... We were suprised by the quality of this hotel in downtown Ven! Friendly and efficient service with clean rooms and corridors. We were too tired after a long day to go out for dinner and ordered room service: excellent! The food was tasty ( lamb kebab and chicken skewer ) with fresh salads. I can recommend them!

I spent two weeks in eastern Turkey August 2013, mainly to climb Ararat and several other mountains. At the start and the end of my trip I spent a few nights in Buyuk Urartu hotel and it was exactly what I had hoped for: - professional - friendly - clean - helpful (e.g. booking transportation) - good breakfast Furthermore, compared... I stayed in Van as part of an extended trip which took me pretty much all over the entire country. At the Urartu I was given not only a discount but also one of their best rooms. It was really good to stretch out in a comfortable bed and have everything one might need provided 'on tap'. The manager himself... More

One needs tempered expectations in Van. Remember, this town has just suffered a devastating earthquake, with many buildings still uninhabitable. Most people are/were related to many who were injured or killed in the earthquake. This facility is clean, well located, and certainly meets the needs of a traveler seeking a safe, clean comfortable place to sleep in Van.

we tried to get a room there last year, although this is not really the kind of hotel I like: it's anonymous and cold. anyway, I felt sick so I was looking for a quite comfortable place. When we got into the reception they claimed they had no free rooms (and they have hundreds of them) and didn't recommend us... More

I have stayed at the Buyuk Urartu a couple of times and have always liked it. It has been friendly, clean and comfortable even if it did seem to have been in an early 1980s time warp. However, it has now been extensively renovated and although I (slightly) miss the old feel the new look is very good and the... More
