Awesome location in dyabakir in the old town near one part if the wall and not far from most of the points of interests. For 40tl with a fridge and ac. It is really good considering the blasting summer heat. Staff does not speak much english but will try to help you out the most they can. The room colours... More

In terms of value for money this was the best hotel I stayed in in Turkey. Rooms were small but felt very very comfortable despite their size, and very homely furnished; with air conditioning. The bathroom was cramped but not really an issue. I stayed an extra night in Diyarbakir almost solely because of this hotel. On the third floor... More

This place came pretty highly recommended in my Lonely Planet guidebook, so I stayed there during a four-day trip to Diyarbakir. The Surkent comes with plusses and minuses. On the plus side, location is good (just inside the northern gate of the old city), the prices are reasonable, and the staff are reasonably friendly. On the downside, the color scheme... More

We were two women, alone, travelling in a less touristic area of Turkey...but a very interesting one. This hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful, though not many of them spoke English...the breakfast was plentiful, but they seemed taken aback that I wanted milk for my tea in the morning. But because I couldn't recall the Turkish word... More

The staff were friendly, but did not speak English at all. A good location, but the parking is just on the street. The food served at breakfast was usually good (with minor exceptions). There were many issues in the bathroom - low water pressure, temporal lack of hot water, toilet flush was not working at all, tobacco odor

Originally i wanted to stay two nights. In the end I stayed four nights. A very good hotel downtown with clean rooms, air conditioning, own bath and helpful staff for the best price in town. And Omar was a really good guide and friend. It was really a pleasure to spent my time with him in Diyarbakir. He is really... More

The last reviewer was spot on. Otel Surkent is so clean and very good value. Super friendly reception staff but struggling to meet anyone in diyabakir who doesn't win Ms/ Mr friendly award 2014. We took a day tour with Omer and found it extremely worthwhile. Diyabakir has a maze of colourful backstreets some of which are raucously great fun... More

If you can put up with lot of pink the Surkent is a clean and comfortable budget style option with plenty of hot water. We had a room on the third floor at the back which was nice and quiet and the steep stairs up and down kept us fit. We didn't take the breakfast so paid 60TL a night... More

Hotel Surkent is a very good option for everyone who wants to discover Diyarbakir and surroundings: not only because it is clean, familiar and cheap, (with free wifi and colored rooms), or for its central position, but above all for the staff. None of them speaks english, but they are somehow capable to understand your needs. A particular help came... More
