The Akol Hotel is in a great location right on the waterfront, which makes it a great place to wander from. We stayed after a day of exploring Gallipoli before heading to Troy the next day. The rooms were run down, and the hotel overall felt a bit dated and awkward. That being said, we actually slept really well (jet... More

We enjoyed the Akol just fine. After a day in Troy, its waterfront location was perfect - even in the off season. It's an easy walk to see the replica Trojan horse and to try out the bars in town. There was a rooftop bar at the hotel serving flaming drinks that kept us amused for a while as well.... More

This hotel is located on the waterfront just 100 yards from the replica Trojan horse used in the 2004 movie Troy. The rooms are small and quite worn and the whole is a bit run down. The thermostat didn't work and the room was so hot that I slept with the window open in 40 degree weather. Service is slow... More

The hotel has valet parking - pull up at the front and go to reception. They'll take your keys and deal with the vehicle. The hotel has the air of being a work-in-progress .... there was a smell of wet paint and evidence of refurbishment .... Only two small and rather slow lifts .... Breakfast was OK, not special. Service... More

We had a very average stay at Akol. The hotel is very dated and the older part at the back is grubby, almost derelict, not as it appeared in the online photos. We were unfortunate enough to get a room beside the lift which operates by a generator that sounds like a hedge trimmer starting and stopping. It would have... More

The hotel is located overlooking the bay. Request for a room facing the waterfront to enjoy the beautiful view. The breakfast choices are good. The promenade walk along the waterfront is just across the hotel and the Trojan horse of the movie Troy which is gifted to the city is at a stone's throw. There are many eateries near the... More

We stayed overnight, passing through the following morning. We could have easily spent another day as it is one of those places, with the right views, felt comfortable. I am sure that there are plenty of travellers wanting 5 star on a budget and the saying goes....The Esplanade in front of the hotel is a good walk if you want... More

Room has very thin walls so if you're a light sleeper well then goodluck! Food is very ordinary so that makes it two down for this hotel. Only good thing is its location which is very near the ferry and the trojan horse Brad Pitt donated to the city when he made the movie Troy.

I stayed in this hotel during a tour of Turkey with Gate 1. Overall, the hotel was very nice and my room looked as if it has been renovated recently. The breakfast was good. It was one of the better hotels on the tour. The front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. I would recommend staying at this hotel.

We stayed in the Akol Hotel, Canakkale for one night en route to other places. Given this, the Akol satisfied our requirements but it is obvious that it caters mainly (only?) for bus tours, including us. I only mention this in case anyone reading this is an independent traveler. You would be overwhelmed in this hotel by the large number... More
