The Mahdia Palace was Ok, but not what I would call 5*. It was clean, our room overlooked the sea and golf course and was very nice. Bonus of having a separate toilet. Security guards patrol the beach area to stop guests being pestered by hawkers. Best to sit in the garden! or walk in the sea, they don't get... more

A lovely hotel ideal for a week of rest and relaxation. The public areas are elegant and spotlessly clean and the bedroom very large with a super king size bed and two settees that converted into beds and again was clean and very comfortable. There are ample sunbeds and we found a lovely quiet spot in the garden as it... more

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Mahdia Palace. Not sure that we stayed at the same hotel as in some of the other reviews! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and didn't want to come home! Yes - the guests were predominantly French, German, Italian and Tunisian - for much of our stay we were the only English guests at the... more

A bit apprehensive after reading previous reviews, but generally found the poor reviews were mostly from my co-nationals. Overall the hotel is fine. A fairly standard 4 star Tunisian quality hotel. As usual the staff are attentive, courteous and friendly. A regular small tip and a friendly attitude go a long way to making everyone's stay a more pleasant one.... more

Really good hotel with a very professional staff, yet not speaking English very well but helpful and communicative. Spacious and beautifully ornamented reception. Deserves its name; The Palace. Many bars and restaurants. Very active Animation group. Splendid beach with silky soft sand and warm , clean sea. Security officers very efficient. Could feel safe and well cared. The food not... more

The hotel was dirty and the food was often cold. You didn't want to go outside for a walk as it was just waste ground along one road, what a dump. The only thing you can do is lay on the beach. The entertainment is geared for children, unless you like mindless games and a piano player that can't sing... more

On arrival the hotel is splendid, the entrance and reception is marble lined with fretwork , squashy leather sofas and smartly dressed staff. Problem start when you scratch below the veneer. We had a series of faults in our room-safe was broken, light bulbs intermittent, shower plug broken -the final straw being when our door handle broke, leaving us locked... more

This hotel was as it says, a Palace. The decor was superb, the staff very friendly and a rep on hand 24hrs a day (thanks Jimal). I was however not well for 3 days....not the food....just lack of water....silly me!!! Yes it is Africa after all. The food was what I expected, good selection of Tunisian cooking. If you are... more

This was an excellant hotel for sand sea and sun. The people at the hotel were very friendly, even though they did not speak good english I was always understood. Overall we had a good holiday but my only problem was very few English guests, mainly German, itallians and French,so it could be very lonely at times. Used taxis to get... more
