I visited this hotel as part of a travel agents educational.It is one of the oldest 5* hotels in the country.
We were told by Jamila Asset, the sales manager and tour leader, that the hotel will be going through a period of refurbishment. On first impressions it did need to be a bit more open and airy but I did like the vintage décor which made it different from the generic, modern 5* hotels which look the same wherever you are in the world.
All the corridors off the lobby and restaurants were partially open into tropical gardens. We focused on the renovated areas and were shown a room, which was more like an apartment!
They all included a reception area with big bathroom and bedroom visually separated off from other areas. There was a warm, cosy feel to the rooms which earnt it’s 5* reputation.
