The Visger House is run by Sam, surely short for Samantha, who is this creative gourmet chef, hosteling her guests. She is happy in talk and energy but unbelievable in efficiency growing her own Swiss chard and stewing her rhubarb for tomorrow''s breakfast. She operates the finest dining in Alex Bay which she jokes is no compliment because no where... More

My husband and I recently stayed at Captain Visger Bed and Breakfast. It was absolutely wonderful. The room (captains suite) was beautiful, comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were amazing. Sam, the innkeeper was terrific. She was knowledgeable of everything going on in the area, recommended great restaurants and made our stay perfect. I highly recommend this B and B if... More

We had just 3 days to spend in the 1000 Islands - stayed at this wonderful B&B, very happy with our choice! Sam made us comfortable from the start, and did a wonderful job with unique breakfasts each day. She also had great recommendations for things to do and "must see" items while we were there. Would definitely recommend!

Our two night stay at the Captain Visger House was phenomenal. Sam made our stay by providing wonder breakfast, great directions, and a tremendous strategy how to use our limited time wisely. I had the best oatmeal ever. Everything is fresh from the almond milk that Sam makes to the roasted pumpkin seeds and herbs that she grows. Wow what... More

We agree with all the positives mentioned in other reviews here. We've stayed in many B&Bs and Sam is one of the most effective proprietors we've ever encountered. The whole stay was characterized by calm and comfort, and by lavish, fresh and delicious breakfasts (we were hardly hungry for lunch before mid-afternoon; these were the best meals we ate in... More

The Thousand Islands Region is "HOME" to me... many happy memories of my mom's hometown of Ogdensburg NY on the St. Lawrence. Visiting the area on our yearly trip for northern pike fishing in Clayton, we decided to stay at Captain Visger House (5 of us, including 11 yr. old grandson). I love old houses (built in 1850s), and this... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Captain Visger House Bed and Breakfast this past summer. It is a beautiful, old Victorian home, yet quite comfortable. The owner is friendly and helpful, and serves a delicious and quite extensive breakfast. We stayed three nights and the owner, Sam, was very informative about the best tours of the Thousand Islands, places to... More

We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts and this one will rank as one of the best. The owner is gracious and very welcoming. Captain Visger is located within walking distance of the St Lawrence Seaway and the boat ride to Boldt Castle. While we always appreciate a clean, nicely decorated room, the food here was the highlight of... More

We never stay at B&B's but based on the reviews of this place we decided to give it a try. What an amazing experience! The house is beautiful but not intimidating--it quickly felt like home. Of course Sam had a lot to do with that. She is warm, welcoming, engaging, and filled with spunk! And boy can that girl cook!!... More
