Alexander Bay is a great place to vacation and the Captain Visger House is a gem. Sam is a great cook and the rooms were luxurious, and breakfast was delightful. Every detail of our stay was perfect; the decor, and the food! Fantastic breakfasts. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evenings or walking across the street to the... more

We only stayed one night on our way back to Canada from NYC. Too bad for us as the Captain Visger House is a wonderful place to rest and recharge. Sam was a great hostess along with Louis the Labradoodle and Maggie the calico cat. They are friendly and curious about guests. Our room was well appointed with a jacuzzi... more

We stayed here for a wedding in the area. The house is a beautifully restored old mansion which makes you feel like you've stepped back in time - which is perfect for the boat tours you can take from down the street stopping at private islands and old mansions from a time long past. The rooms are HUGE and absolutely... more

In short - wonderful food, wondeful host, wonderful room. We stayed at the Captain Visger house the weekend of July 4th (for our honeymoon). We were greeted into our room with a suprise of goodies and wine! How wonderful! Sam is an awesome cook! Everything was so delicious and we cannot wait to go back next year. Sam is very... more

Stayed in the Captain's Suite, and the house has all you'd expect from a nice B&B. The room was beautiful, and quiet, which surprised us being close to to main drag. Yet even with the windows cracked open, street or noise from other rooms was never an issue. The breakfasts were amazing (which of course is a key of any... more

My wife and I just got home from our 2 day stay at the Capt Visger B&B. We absolutely loved it. Sam is wonderful and personable as well as her husband and friend. We stayed in the Captains suite. It was beautiful. Nice large room decorated very nicely and the bathroom was to die for, with Sam's peppermint hemp all... more

My husband and I wanted to get away for a night and the only place we could think of is to go the Alex Bay and to stay at Capt. Visgers. We had a wonderful time last year and could not thank Sam enough for the enjoyable time. We were the only ones this weekend and Sam made us feel... more

My husband and I stayed at Captain Visger House for two nights for my birthday at the end of June. We got engaged in Alexandria Bay eight years earlier, but had been hesitant to return for an overnight stay since the larger resorts had become increasingly run down. We found Captain Visger House online and decided to give it a... more

BE VERY CAREFUL – if you think you have reservations, you may not :(. We booked 3 nights with Captain Visger House (Thursday – Saturday). Due to unforeseen car issues, we called that week (Monday) and changed our reservation to be only Friday night, as we had a wedding that night. Both times calling Captain Visger House, we talked with... more

What I find interesting is that the New Years Resolution was to write a negative review 6 months after the incident. As the owner I can assure anyone who makes a reservation, you will have a room. even if I have to give you mine! I will also add that I did learn from this experience and will not repeat...

First, may I say that we had originally booked three nights -- and extended our stay for two more! This is a wonderful property with a positively fabulous hostess. "Sam" fed us so well each morning that we had no need for lunch (and probably could have skipped dinner!) Her breakfasts are imaginative, pleasing to the eye and way beyond... more
