On a whim in mid-October, my fiancé and I selected Alexandria Bay for a weekend getaway. We’ve stayed at several fantastic B&B’s over the past few years and found all of them via Trip Advisor. And so we found Captain Visger House, and Sam. Sam set me at ease the moment I heard her cheery voice on the phone. We... More

If you're not going to read the rest of this review, you need to at least know that you have to stay here for the breakfast! I'm not sure which has more character, the house or the owner Sam :) We had 5 nights in the Captain's Suite which is on the second floor beside the tv room. Plenty of... More

We were here over Canadian Thanksgiving. The house is charming and full of character. We stayed in the Captain's room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had no problems with noise. Breakfasts were delicious. It was the end of the season, but we were able to go on the boat tour,go up Hill tower and take a pretty drive to Tibbet point... More

I had the best two breakfasts I have ever had at a B&B (actually, pretty much anywhere), Sam is a fantastic cook and the B&B itself was just beautiful. The worst part about the weekend was that I had to be somewhere by 9 every morning so couldn't enjoy the breakfasts the way they deserved, or spend more time in... More

The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in (except my own) and now I think I'll have to replace my pillows now that I've slept at Captain Visger's. We stayed in the "Harmonius" room, which had a peek of a view of the Boldt Castle. The room was nicely appointed, and very clean, as was the bathroom.... More

Incredibly accommodating hostess, Sam. Unforgettable meals and conversation. Well situated old Victorian mansions with interesting artifacts. Walk to town and around. People who choose to stay here are very interesting. Good value.

Being that this was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast we weren't sure what to expect. Needless to say, after two nights away in Alexandria Bay we can't wait to go back and visit Sam and her wonderful home! We were greeted upon arrival by Sam (the owner), given a brief tour of the house and immediately... More

We came up for a quick escape, it happened to be Blues by the Bay weekend. The Captain Visger house was the place to stay. It was exactly what we wanted. Clean, welcoming, great location and a wonderful breakfast. We stayed in Lavina's Retreat, four windows made the room airy and comfortable. Sam was a welcoming and warm hearted hostess.... More

The Visger House is run by Sam, surely short for Samantha, who is this creative gourmet chef, hosteling her guests. She is happy in talk and energy but unbelievable in efficiency growing her own Swiss chard and stewing her rhubarb for tomorrow''s breakfast. She operates the finest dining in Alex Bay which she jokes is no compliment because no where... More
