A few years back I stayed here and I really liked it. The initial owners were Chinese/Canadians. Everything was spot on and I was impressed. Talk about DOWNHILL with owner change!! Returning was a mess and just not good enough. Weird, the prices down!?...about 25%, the value was down 100%. I try to be balanced here...this is the most mosquito... More

Stayed there 19 March 2012, this is a Thai style Hotel, the Thais rent 1 room and pack as many people in as they can, therefore the rooms get used extensively, like most other reviews, it is a bit "used" we could say it's dirty but don't forget where you are, this guesthouse is usually fully booked because of the... I have stayed at the Silver Reef hotel five times in the last three years, most recently in October 2011, and I have yet to be disappointed. It is located in the centre of Udon adjacent to the No.1 bus station but don't worry about possible noise because none reaches the hotel. The hotel itself is bright, colourful and airy.... More

I found this hotel perfect for my one night stay before catching an early morning bus on to Nakhon Phanom. The room I had (A5) on the first floor was neat and clean with good WiFi speeds, a refigerator ( 2 free bottles of water) and basic TV. The bathroom was clean with good hot water and the bed was... Two years ago when I first stayed at Silver Reef, I would have given it five stars. It's amazing how quickly a place can deteriorate. New owners perhaps? On this past visit, the hallway floors and walls were scuzzy. The room smelled like a toilet, and yet somehow even worse than the toilet itself. The bathroom was moldy and the... More

We came over to Udon from Laos and wanted somewhere cheap and close to transit and the mall. This place is perfect. The service is very friends, price is cheap (19$ USD for double room) and very, very clean. For something simple, clean and comfortable, this place is perfect.

It is not easy to find after dusk where this hotel is located. Though the location could be considered prime in Udonthani, there hardly is a road sign of the hotel near it. Besides, since the hotel is next to a public coach bus station, it is seriously dirty on the outside. The room was okay. The bed was okay.... More
