River kwai hotel, is a good budget hotel, not the best we stayed in while in Thailand but, really for the cost of the room & breakfast we really couldn't complain. The staff were very helpful and the managed to get us a very nice taxi driver that took us around all day. The rooms are a bit dated, but... More

Have stayed here several times but the last time is the last time. It used to be good but now they've done some refurbishing and it's not the same. All rooms now are non-smoking, no problem, but you have to go all the way downstairs to have a cigarette. You used to be able to go out of the fire... More

Due to issues with my laptop I was unable to book a Hotel before arriving in Kanchanaburi and after some driving around we come across the River Kwai Hotel that is located on a main road with money changing kiosks, banks, restaurants and several 7-11. Walk in rate was a sensible 900THB and included a breakfast buffet, having to pay... More

The River Kwai Hotel is definitely 3 star. As per previous reviews, it is badly in need of refurbishment and although they have renovated some rooms, the rest of the hotel is looking very shabby. It is however good value for money if you just want somewhere to stay for a couple of days when visiting the war cemetery and... More

The hotel is well located with only a 10 minute walk to the war cemetery and death rail museum. The reception staff were very professional and courteous. The restaurant was overpriced and the service lacking. There were no tea making facilities in the room, whilst they were able to deliver hot water on request but this did not meet all... More

Stayed at this property for five days in April 2014. The hotel is old and in need of a facelift. Location is ok and short way to both bus and rail station. Breakfast was limited and catered to Asian rather than western tastes.

I would concur with most of the previous reviews. This place has seen its best days and needs a refurbishment. Two good things central location and decent beds. The breakfast was appalling and only catered for local and asian taste.

Good location, 6-7 min. walk to either the railway station or the bus station. I stayed in rooms 206 & 210 March 2014 and both are in need of renovating, especially the bathrooms. Breakfast wasn't the best I had ever experienced. The pool area looked aged, the walls of the pool felt like sand paper with large blooms of algae... More

They do very little maintenance here so the place looks run down. When I came in I thought wow these are some dirty carpets in the halls and the next day they were cleaning them as though they had read my mind. The rooms are actually well cleaned but so run down they look dirtier than they are. The beds... More
