This is one of the guesthouses with a mentioning on wikitravel and the first place we went to after arriving by minibus from Bangkok. The guesthouse is located on the river in the popular tourist area around Maenam Kwai road. Bars and restaurants are within walking distance and there are also two convenience shops nearby. As we arrived and were... More

Arrived to find quite a large hotel with bungalows and rooms. The large swimming pool in the centre was very inviting. We walked to the bridge which took about 15mins, got a taxi to cemetery and rail museum then easy walk back to hotel . Very quiet but tourists were down this year, october. Free pick up from bus stayion.

Great hotel with great staff who can't do enough for you. The room was large and the complementary water and soft drinks in the fridge were topped up daily. The breakfast was good and freshly cooked. The hotel is just off one of the main streets so less noise but easy access if you want more. Easy walking distance to... More

Stayed here 4/5 of Oct, for 650Bt you get a good size room ,large bed( you could get 4 in if you wanted to ), and a pool outside your door, the pool seemed to be overkill with the chlorine, but I guess it stops the mozzys from using it to lay eggs in, the food was good, and even... More

My friend and I spent two nights here and the staff were so helpful and friendly we loved it. We felt very welcome and they were very knowledgable and gave us lots of advice about where to go and how to get that. Thank you! I would highly recommend it to travellers and holiday makers looking for a friendly place... More

I stayed at Pong Phen on several occasions whilst working in the nearby area. There is a good selection of rooms, and even the cheapest ones (400 Baht) are very decent. The staff are both friendly and helpful, and several speak very good English. I would thoroughly recommend this place to backpackers, and to anyone else looking for a cheap... More

The setting is great, overlooking the river- really beautiful and the pool is good. My boyfriend was bitten all over his body though by bed bugs and it's really affected our trip so I wouldn't recommend staying here if you are susceptible to getting bitten by bed bugs as our mattresses were infested with the creatures. I believe the whole... More

We stayed in a family room with 5 - added two beds to fit us all in. The airco was not really fit for the entire big room, and the added beds were very thin mattresses on wooden boards. The bathroom was very spacious too. Wifi available for free and working :) Friendly and helpful staff. Pool is quite nice... More

We stayed here for three nights on our trip around Thailand, and were very impressed with the service, quality and value. The location is great, set just back from the main tourist area in Kanchanaburi, and the clean swimming pool was in the sun every time we went for a dip. We had a first floor room in the guesthouse... More

It was ok. Nothing special or writing home about. The pool was great but the staff at the restaurant weren't very attentive. I'd recommend eating elsewhere, I did. But as for the room I stayed in the air con worked, it was a decent size, it had a comfy bed so it was a good value for a mere 500... More
