stayed at Pong Phen guest house and really enjoyed our time. Location is good for local attractions (museums, etc.). The staff are really nice and helpful and the sitting area is great to socialise, eat and drink. Pool is small but good for a cool down. This guesthouse is one of those that has guest writing all over the wall. In the comments, pong phen is praised for their smiling, friendly and helpful staff. I haven't met these people. Asking a simple question is a major inconvenience to them, no acknowledgement of even understanding what you said. No response to "hello", "good morning" nothing. Food good... More

Just off the main road where are located all GH. Nice open view toward the river and gardens. Swimming pool. Rooms are basic but clean. Friendly staff More

All in all a decent guesthouse, well kept and maintained by the very friendly (and hard working !) staff. Competitevely priced rooms, drinks and breakfast, reasonably priced food (although we didn't try it). The guesthouse does what it promises, and an added bonus is the swimmingpool. Noisy birds in cages, but that's probably part of the exotic feeling. More

The staff at Pong Phen are fun, friendly and are an invaluable source of information about what to do in Kanchanaburi. The guest house is located at the end of a small soi off the main street, which is great as it's a little quieter, yet still easy to get to. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Death... More

Spent one night here but the noise from the kitchen late into the night was not good. Spacious, clean rooms with A/C and all you need - just the position of our triple room was much too close to the kitchen. Staff were pleasant and helpful and food was good. More
