This was our first trip to Chiang Rai in over 20 years and we were keen to see how the sleepy city had changed, if at all. We'd previously stayed at the Dusit Island Resort, which we hadn't particularly enjoyed due to its sheer size, so decided upon The Legend as it was within walking distance from the city centre... This hotel booked trough our travel agent in Europe is a very nice hotel. Rooms are big and like small apartments. It is just a pity that they are tide together witch obliges to close the curtains to have some privacy. The breakfast could be better for such kind of hotel, a good orange juice instead one out of a... More

From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by a "Lanna Welcoming Pavilion" in the courtyard and from there on it, it's all eclectic charm. Our villa had it's own private pool (unheated unfortunately) but great views of the river.

Definitely a lovely hotel, ideal for honeymoon. The bungalows are spacious (a room just for the shower), clean and provided with nice furniture in the style of the hotel. Rooms equipped with all comforts. Lovely patio facing a small lake and garden. The restaurant and the bar are dreams during the night and face the river. The food was very... More

We enjoyed the beautiful entry courtyard and riverfront views from the restaurants at the hotel. Our room (deluxe studio) had the largest shower of any hotel where I have ever stayed. The shower was in its own separate room! It had a very luxurious feel. The rest of the room was very comfortable with large windows facing onto various ponds.... More

We only stayed 2 nights here in arriving in Thailand and it was very comfortable. The rooms are simple and a little rustic but very pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful. Chiang Rai is a shot tuk-tuk ride. The hotel seemed to be more organised to receive large coach parties of people passing through.

Most of the rooms are little villas, with four poster beds with mosquito nets and a few nice extras, such a insect repellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, with two restaurants the choice of food is good and the breakfast options were ok. The pool was nice, with lovely grounds for an evening stroll by the river.

We spent only 1 night at the Legend Chiang Rai and wished we had spent more time there. The garden/grounds are fabulous and the hotel is located on the river. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The internet was good and the breakfast buffet was wonderful. The hotel is a short tuk-tuk ride from the center of Chiang Rai,... More

Summary: I recommend this place for its beauty, peaceful location by the river, and overall cleanliness. However, be prepared for finding that service items (like spoons and cups) have not been checked for cleanliness. Don't eat at their restaurant. The quality of the food and service is not great for the high price you are paying for. More details: the... More
