I have been to Chiang Rai many times. With the family we stayed at Dusit which was fine but too remote. As other reviewers say, the key to the desire to stay at Wangcome is its location. It's in an (increasingly dingy) part of Chiang Rai but near the only real action around - the strip of bars on Jed... More

Chiang Rai is a beautiful place to visit with lots of greenery and the quieter neighbor of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai is a land of outstanding natural beauty, if you are looking to avoid the hordes can visit remote hill tribes, wildlife & temples. About hotel, its a decent place to stay considering the cost. It has a swimming pool... More

We stayed at the Wancong Hotel during our recent visit to Chiang Rai. This hotel is conveniently located in the center of the town. You can walk to the municipal market and night market easily. The hotel offered breakfast which was decent and had western and thai offerings. The room was simply a place to get some sleep and rest... More

The unfortunate part of traveling with a group means you have zero say in where you stay. I wouldn't have selected Wangcome on my own and I certainly wouldn't stay there again. Unless you're a budget traveler searching purely for the best deal available, I say skip this hotel and look for a better option. Pros: #1 The bed linens... More

The Hotels best moments are definitv over. For about 800 to 1000 THB, it would be ok, but not for the offered Price. The swimmingpool is there, but it ist not welcoming. Dark, the chairs were in a staple, nobody was there and you have to go through the Restaurant to get to the pool. The staff on the reception... More

Welcoming staff greet you at the door and at reception.. The rooms are a good size (but do get one looking outside rather than inside to the 'well.') The worst aspect is the plumbing where every flush, every shower and every use of the hand basin next door reverberates around the room. Excellent hot water. Very friendly room service. Breakfast... Super excellent buffet breakfast included with room price, everything from omelettes, to rice. Rooms were good, air conditioning in room, swimming pool closed early at 8:00 pm, hotel within close walking distance of restaurants and night market shopping. Stayed three nights, would stay there again if ever back in Chiang Rai. Did have a lizard on the ceiling of my... More

Lovely first impressions, despite all of the road work going on out the front, but the rooms need careful attention, as they can be quite dingy and gloomy. Excellent location for city exploring, and is very close to some of the more lively bars for an evening entertainment.

This hotel is convenient for the tourist heart of Chiang Rai and it is the only reason why anyone would stay there. In Chiang Mai this hotel would struggle to get customers at 1,000 a night and yet the rate for this hotel in Chiang Rai is around 1,800 for a double room. There's simply a lack of alternatives in... but "faded" is too weak a word. Large new foyer full of bling is deceptive, behind it is a hotel that on first glance belongs to pre Berlin-wall collapse Eastern Europe, except with ruder less attentive staff. No information in the room on services, which is at least accurate as there just aren't any. The pool is accessed via a... More
