Situated at the bottom of Jetyod Road near to a temple, Jansom House is a winner. The rooms are on three floors on either side of a courtyard full of plants and nice wooden furniture. The rooms themselves are large and are well-equipped. There is no bedside furniture, but a light switch is on the wall above your head. There... More

After spending a decent amount of time in Northern Thailand, what Jansom House provides is truly all you need. Clean rooms, hot showers & wifi. Price is more expensive than a hostel, but rooms are all private.

The rooms and I checked two smell disgusting, it's tiny concrete cells and when I asked for toilet paper in the morning I got told is get a new one when the housekeeping was done. Hence decision to leave after one night. I've been in Thailand for three months and for this price range this is the worst place I've... More

Fine hotel. Cheap, clean and a hot shower. What more do you need? Beds were warm, soft and clean sheets. Would come back here any day Breakfast is included but not worth mentioning, just plain toast and instant coffee... Free wifi which works well!

If you're after a cheap place to crash for a night, this is it. Wouldn't stay more than one night if I had the choice. Lonely Planet was way too optimistic about this one. Reception was friendly, no spontaneous extra info about the city centre or so. If there 's one reason to come here, it would be Addy, who... More

Rooms were clean and tidy, but the main drawback was unfortunately that there was a lot of noise from the other rooms. Breakfast consists of DIY toast, butter, marmelade, bananas and instant coffee or tea. All in all good value, but not more.

I was surprised by the negative reviews on here. I thought Jansom was great! We stayed in another place nearby and Jansom offered better value for the money. 400 baht/night for a fridge, two big bottles of water, A/C, hot water shower, breakfast. Furniture in room was plentiful and good quality -- I work on the road so the desk... More

I absolutely agree with joshkinnersley's review. I too was persuaded to try the Jansom House on the strength of its glowing review in Lonely Planet which claimed it had "spotless, spacious rooms" and was "excellent value." That was not my experience. I had a very basic, rather grubby, average-sized room with a poky, en-suite shower room. For what was offered,... More

We arrived in Chiang Rai and headed to Jansom Guest House, upon the recommendation of Lonely Planet. We thought they were quite generous with their glowing review. We were greeted by a miserable receptionist, who remained equally glum and rude from arrival until check out. Our room was basic, gloomy and smelt a bit damp. We had high hopes for... More

A few of us stayed here on a golf trip & the location was spot on, at the end of the road from the main bar area. Whilst I wouldn't give it 4 star (TA very good), for the price it is better than average. For 500bt a night I feel some people expect too much. The bedding was clean,... More
