When in Arusha this is the place to stay. Just because of the history and because you will get more of a feeling about the african lifestile in general (better then in the completely closed off mount meru). Before the trip we where in room 201, which has a very nice bedroom and livingroom. the bathroom is starting to show... More

If you're staying in Arusha proper, this is the place to be. Really nice rooms…excellent coffee in the lobby…aaaaaand quiet. Fantastic staff as well. We'd stayed across the street at the Palace Hotel for three nights and it was several notches down the rung.

We stayed here before & after our safari in Tanzania. Food was pretty good and staff were very accommodating. We stayed in rooms by the road at the end of our safari & it was a bit noisy. I'd recommend staying in a room away from the road. We thought it was a beautiful old colonial hotel and served us... More

We stayed at this hotel during Arusha visit It is average hotel for price , great location, average to below average service, very intermittent to slow internet service and below average food Perhaps at next visit we may not stay again mainly due to lack of good internet and bad food choices

Dear Chum94555, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on our page. We are sorry though to read you qualify our property as below average while most our guests live the experience of a historic, boutique hotel in the heart of Arusha as a pleasant often unique experience. We stayed here our first night in Tanzania. The staff gave us a warm welcome, went through the trouble to make us feel welcome guests. The main communal room is busy with travellers. The downstairs bar was cool and comfortable and was easy to spend a few hours in. The breakfast food was OK, big buffet with lots of fruit,... More

Dear Michael, I am so glad you stayed with us and took the time to make these points about the welcoming feel of The Arusha Hotel and its atmosphere. We also take this opportunity to apologize about the slow WiFi - we have indeed been experiencing few problems lately but it seems like it was pretty much the same everywhere... More

Quite an old hotel. Some would call the decor old and shoddy, but we found it quaint and characteristic of a much earlier era. The standard room we stayed in was fairly small and very noisy (don't stay in room 401 - it's right next to the staff room). It's fairly clean but again, more picky folk would find it... More

The public areas of the hotel are well kept and good. Our room was a little 'tired' with a window that neither opened or fully closed and peeling paintwork. The food was good although the restaurant service could be improved, particularly at breakfast, getting a spoon to eat a yoghurt was quite a challenge! The hotel is fine for a... More

A place where you will understand how forward looking were the people who established the hotel then. Despite being the oldest of the big hotels in Arusha, it a nice and well maintained place. You will also enjoy birds singing in the garden which is as old as the hotel. The huge and old trees confirm and preserve the history.... More

Stayed here for three nights whilst on a business trip. This is one of the oldest hotels in Arusha but has recently had a number of renovations. Good clean rooms, service fine but sometimes hit and miss. Food again good most of the time Location superb though. Slap bang in the middle of the city. Nice pool and decent gym.... More

We recently stayed here for a night at either end of our safari. It was perfectly adequate for a brief stop over in Arusha but nothing special. The hotel is well-located, rooms spacious, updated and clean, good air conditioning. Quiet. The common areas are a little shabby but fine. The food is also adequate, buffet style in the dining room... More
