This was our first bed after 8 nights in Kilimanjaro in tents. It was an oasis. Everything was perfect; peace & quiet, beautiful gardens, great food, and wonderful views. The staff was very friendly and everything was clean. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. more

We arrived late at night in Arusha, the drive to Kigongoni was thrilling at night & the location was amazing. The lodge is of very good quality, warm welcome & good security. The feeling is of living in the middle of the forest, with mount meru as the panorama. Food was average but the comfort & size of the room... more

I was really disappointed after a long travel day to find the sheets on my bed stained. I don't think they were dirty, just stained. There were also holes in the mosquito netting. The room was adequate, nice shower. There are many, many stairs to almost every room. Getting anywhere was quite a hike. Not for individuals with disabilities. Staff... more

Nice area to stop before starting your trip in Tanzania. Very quite, restful area to sleep before you start out and the great part is it supports teh childern's home as well. Rooms were clean, staff was very helpful and food was good. The smell of the rose houses were a nice surprise. more

I don't know if this property is under new management since all the negative reviews about the service, but we found the complete opposite to be true. The service in every way was incredible; super friendly, efficient and competent. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable and the food was by far the best I had... more

My family and I stayed here for two nights in early July 2008 before departing on a northern Tanzania safari, and the lodge is incredible. The grounds are lush, tropical, and well-manicured; the rooms, each of which occupies its own round, thatched-roof cabana, are spacious and luxurious; the restaurant was excellent (I highly recommend the fragrant, mildly-spiced lamb stew); and... more

Such a nice place. Huge bathrooms, comfy beds, excellent veiws. They had a good dinner and buffet breakfast. The flights and flights of stairs the go to the bungaloos will help work off the calories. Secluded location, quiet and relaxed. more

Spent 2 days at Kigongoni with Thomson Safaris between Mt. Kilimanjaro and a safari. Top notch in all respects. Very clean, great food, pleasant & accomodating staff, and everything worked. Met the owner, Atty Hammer-Roos and her son who manages the facility - both of whom were extremely hospitable. Atty also founded the Sibusiso Foundation,a center for mentally or physically... more

We spent a night here in December 2007. There must be changes as we found the lodge quite well kept and the staff responsive. We had Christmas dinner here and the food was good and fresh. We met the owners son, who is managing the place and he was on site and available to address questions and make us feel... more

We spent 3 weeks in Tanzania with one week safari, one week Kilimanjaro and one week in Zanzibar... Kigongoni was our base camp between these 3 activities. So we stayed 3 nights total, one night at a time... I must say we really enjoyed it... we had absolultly no problem with the service... The waitress we had was actually extremely... more
