If you find yourself in Kaohsiung you'll quickly realise that it doesn't have a lot going to interest tourists. Thus to get away from all the unsightly industrial buzz you need to find a really good place to stay & this is it. It is first rate with affordable eating places in the shopping plaza below with breakfast served on... More

Stayed here for one night on Edison’s Five Day Island Tour. Good room on 30th floor with spectacular view over the city. Superior bathroom. Air conditioning the quietest I have ever come across. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, but not for westerners looking for something like a normal breakfast. Steamed and boiled vegetables first thing in the morning are not... More

I have been staying with Grand Hi-Lai hotel for business traveling over 12years, never let down. It's located right in center of Kao Hsiuang city surrounded by department stores, night markets and various of great street food. The hotel staff all very friendly and tend to help, even remember your travel pattern making you feel coming home. Would recommend for... More

What can I say!...fantastic hotel and well worth the money. The amenities are endless within the hotel. The pool is great on the 12th floor and open air. The bedroom (stayed in a quad room) was amazing size and great views out over the harbour (32nd floor). Plenty of staff on hand to support whatever you may need. The breakfast... More

A comfortable, clean hotel overlooking the harbour. The hotel is conveniently linked to a shopping centre & food court. It was an overnight stay & unfortunately could not explore anything else due to a sudden downpour. Overall, the rooms are large & comfortable, & warrant a re-visit. The buffet breakfast was good.

Loved the location, rooms are simply furnished, but the staff was well-trained. Would stay here again, but my only peeve would be the elevator transfers required. (Need to switch from room to breakfast floor) (Need to switch from room to 10th floor, then on 8th floor, ANOTHER elevator to access the shopping center from 1-8th floor)

I spent one night at the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel as part of a round-the-island tour of Taiwan. The hotel is in the middle of bustling Kaohsiung, and is attached to the fancy Hanshin department store. The hotel’s décor is deliberately old-fashioned, with marble floors and huge chandeliers in the lobby. But everything is efficient and up-to-date in this classically-styled facility.... More

A very nice hotel located in a great area of Kaohsiung. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the majority speak very good english. Breakfast on the top floor is always excellent but is commonly very crowded. We always met for drinks in the lounge area in the main lobby and the majority of night there was live music.... More

Been in this hotel many times over the last 10 years, the standard of service has been consistently kept very high. Great room comfort, excellent staff attitude and helpfulness. Outstanding selection of restaurants, a mention is deserved by the Lobster Bar and the japanese-style Teppanyaki at the 45th floor. Very good breakfast spread at the 43rd floor. Classic grand lobby... More
