The location for the price is great! Sizihwan is a cool area with a lot to do itself. The hostel is also very close to the Metro, which is quite nice. The owner is great guy full of suggestions on things to do. However, the place could be cleaner. Maybe it is just because it is so old that it... More

I certainly recommend this hostel. It is located in Sizihwan, which is a great neighbourhood that gives you much more of a historic feel than other hostels I've stayed in Taipei. The owner is a great young lad. He was very informative about things to do and even took us out one night to check out the Pier 2 Art... More

After several nights at Hamasen Hostel, I can say that this place is a comfortable, well-kept backpacker gem in a convenient and accessible part of Kaohsiung. The management and staff are extremely helpful. If your needs are budget and cozy, check out Hamasen Hostel.

The location is great. It's only a short walk away from the Formosa Boulevard Station. It's also just a few minutes' walk away are the old British Consulate and Wude Samurai Hall. If you're into a bit of walking, you can walk to the ferry pier to Cijin, too. We only had a day in Kaohsiung, but it seems that... More

TC is a hekuva nice guy. He'll help you get your bearings, might even have some maps you'll need. Heck, he might even show you a hotspot around town if he isn't too busy. The place is clean and comfortable. There's beer in the fridge, a nice kitchen, and a subway nearby. I didn't have time to sightsee when I... More

Hostel Hamasen is a really nice, small hostel, where you will immediately feel at home, because its rooms are located in a former family-house and the manager, TC, is very friendly and welcoming. There is a communal lounge on the ground floor and a communal kitchen on the 1st floor and there are private rooms as well as dorms. I... More
