Likes: 2 minutes walk to money exchange, museum, tourist office and about 15 minutes walk to Palmyra ruins (could see the ruins from our room) which meant we could get up early and see the sunrise as well as spend late afternoon at the ruins, great buffet breakfast (we had to leave early and they allowed to eat before the... This would have been a nice hotel at one time but is now run down and with the most terrible electrical wiring. When I turned a lamp on it exploded ejecting the cable from the socket and giving me an electrical shock. It also shorted all the electrics in the room and we had to move. Because of the political... We stayed here in Palmyra and would certainly recommend. Everything worked, friendly staff, beer available downstairs. Breakfast not great but nothing worse than average for Syrian budget hotels. And couldn't be a better location for the sights of Palmyra.

We had booked to stay here for 1 night and had reconfirmed our booking via email then on the phone, on the day. We arrived only to find that there was no room available. The owner was very apologetic as he realised he'd given our room to another guest, and offered us an alternative, which we felt we had no... More

Stayed here when we were in Syria. I don't remember much of this place. I suppose that may be a good/bad thing depending on your perspective. It was just an average hotel. Its one of the closer hotels to the main site in Palmyra. It has free wifi in the lobby. I don't need much service from hotel staff but... More

You don't have many options in Palmyra. Ishtar Hotel is one of the good options. The staff were really helpful and nice. The location is really good, just a short walk from the ruins. However our room was not clean. It was a tidy room but we found some hairs in just as we opened the sheets. We did not complain... More

Amazing location close to Palmyra ruins, affordable and reasonably clean, but rooms are very simple - bathroom is a bit weird as after having shower the water has no way to drain so everything there remains wet. It's family run business and the guys are really nice. There's a cave-like restaurant in the basement which is a pleasant place to... More

Clean rooms, nice place situated in the city but also near ruins of Palmyra. But the best of all is food and people there! Food is always fresh and so, so tasty - I could eat it every day:) and people are very frendly, open-minded, helpful. They know a lot about Palmyra and they can show you the places that... More

I stayed in Palmyra for one night in November and I found Ishtar hotel to be a very good option. Location is perfect, rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable and breakfast was a pretty good meal (buffet). What amazed me was the friendliness and helpfulness of staff. I have never felt so much welcome! Ok there are cheaper... More

Good location for the Palmyra sites and clean, quiet room. Apart from that, the hotel was pretty basic & I am sure some others in town would offer more. The guys we met on reception were pretty uninterested (possibly just those we met), the room wasn't particularly great value and this is just above a backpacker hostel. The food is... More
