I visit Sri Lanka regularly and know Sri Lanka quite well. Villa Araliya epitomises what real Sri Lanka is about and keeps it simple yet beautiful and traditional. If you are looking for glitz and have over the top expectations this place is not for you....as it is not trying to be an over the top styled hotel. Villa Araliya... More

A very tranquil place to rest from a long flight with a toddler. Beautiful swimming pool, friendly helpful staff and within only 5 min of the beach. Recommended for both couples and families with (small) children. Would certainly come again.

Beautiful villa with incredible pool. Relaxed location and staff. Made for a wonderful few days. Our experience at Villa Araliya felt very intimate and personal. The hosts were very good at chatting to the guests and making them feel welcome. Their family of dogs and cats was a bonus! This was overall a very memorable stay which we would highly... More

Stayed one night only; more's the pity. Hadn't intended to visit Negombo, but circumstance obliged us to be close to airport for return flight to Melbourne. This was a beautiful hotel. Staff smiled and were friendly without the subservience which I find troubling. Our room was large, clean, comfortable and well appointed. I particularly love the way Sri-Lankan architects use... The first and certainly the most disappointing hotel and location we stayed at during our amazing holiday to Sri Lanka. We found the hotel to be lacking the desire to make our stay welcoming - and found it rather cold and devoid of hospitality (owners use the pool and eat amongst guests - without engaging with anyone - so we... Only 20 minutes from the airport we used Villa Araliya as a rest day following a long journey. Despite Negrombo not being in the top destinations to visit in Sri Lanka, Villa Araliya is hidden away from the main roads yet only 5 minute walk from the beach. That said you won't want to leave the hotel as the pool... More

Efficiently booked by phone and received on arrival. Attentive staff. Lovely cat, besides the dogs. Our air-conditioning was not working properly, so bit of a sweaty night. Price a little bit too high, especially considering the off-season.

Hi, Thanks for the review. Sorry to hear your air conditioning didn't work properly, did you mention it to our staff? As sometimes it is the setting on the remote control or otherwise we could have change the room. Hope to see you again. Kind Regards, Palitha More

Arrived at midnight and the driver as arranged was there to meet us, a welcome sight after a long flight! Arrived at the hotel and after a brief check in procedure we were able to get some rest in our lovely room. Awoke the next morning to a swim in the pool, a great breakfast poolside, lovely team of people... More

We stayed with out family (two parents and two children of 14) in the family unit consisting of a living room downstairs and two bed rooms on the first floor. This unit was very nicely set-up. it had airco in the bed rooms but unfortunately not in the living. With the temperatures in august, this made the living too hot... More

Attentive staff and the great pool were highlights at Villa Araliya. Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. Good breakfast included. Lots of mentions in other reviews about the resident dogs, but my fave pets were the turtles!
