We were a group of 4 (2 couples) and we all loved the Sun House. It has lots of colonial charm and is beautifully renovated, with good facilities. We ate several meals there and they were all good, from the traditional Sri Lankan curry to western food. It is not in the Fort precinct, but that did not worry us... More

Small boutique hotel - with an intimate house party feel on the outskirts of Galle - the Fort is a short tuk tuk or 15 mins walk away. Everybody is very helpful and eager to make your stay happy. The room that we had particularly booked was not available on arrival was not available because the previous guests had refused... More

Arriving after a very long day of travel we were disappointed our booking had been mixed up by our agent and we could only stay one night at The Sun House. It was such an enjoyable night - sure rooms may be a little tired - but we loved the ambience. The food - dinner and breakfast - was delicious!... More

I recently had a quick break in Sri Lanka with 2 of my adult children who were on a surfing holiday. We spent 2 nights in the Sun House which was a highlight of my trip. The service was fabulous, the staff welcoming and attentive, the room stunning (especially the outdoor bathroom) and the breakfast and dinners on the terrace... More

The Sun House is a great place to stay while exploring Galle. We stayed for 3 nights in a standard room. The room was too small for the high price we had to shell out, honestly. The bathroom seemed quite spacious, but the actual room was quite basic, in fact a bit too basic. We had complimentary breakfast along with... More

Booked dinner at The Sunhouse. Have been several times before over the years and it was excellent. This time awful. Come back Henri! Dirty, tired, I could go on. We were told we would be having dinner across the road at The Dutch House. A mojito and a G&T £20. Decided not to stay and went instead to Amangalla in... More

A beautiful relaxing oasis, in Galle. Galle is vibrant and nosy by day, more subdued at night, however, the bar and the restaurant make up for the subdued atmosphere outside. Breakfast on the terrace, watching the trees sway quite dramatically as Black Monkeys play in them. Explore this area by tuk-tuk much more interesting. some amazing deserted beaches, watch the... Although exclusive in that it has a small number of rooms, this property did not live up to my expectations. The standard room we had was pokey and did not have facilities we expect from a 4 star hotel, eg no fridge, tea/coffee or TV. The rustic bathroom, although large featured an unhygienic cracked toilet seat and blown light bulbs.... More

Lovely colonial era house, with quaint little nooks and crannies. Comfortable rooms with unique and individual accents all over the place. One almost feels that you are staying over at your friends farm house, the staff are so friendly and accommodating, everything feels less hotel and more home. The food served in the verandah is just excellent- superb Sri Lankan... More

We were recommended to go there so we did for lunch with 3 kids 11, 9, 7. We were the only ones there which was fine as the kids were swimming in the pool and we didn't have to think about them being noisy as it seemed a very quiet place. A beautiful building and done up beautifully. Monkeys, birds... More
