Sa Rang Chae is run by a friendly and helpful couple, always there for an advise or recommendation. The traditional house is beautiful, made of several parts around a courtyard. I stayed in a single traditional room with shared bathroom. You sleep on a thin mattress on the floor (heated in colder months), in a room that smells old wood.... More

This guesthouse is run by a friendly couple who go the extra mile to help their guests. The guesthouse is in a traditional hanok behind the Tumuli Park, just a 10 minute walk away from the express bus terminal. Accommodation is simple. There are rooms with and without private toilet. The rooms have futons instead of beds. There is also... More

Our family of 4, including two teens, stayed at the Sa Rang Chae guesthouse for 2 nights in June, 2015. The directions on the map provided by the owner from the bus stop in Gyeongju were spot on. We arrived early and were greeted warmly by Mrs. Choo, the co-owner along with her husband. We asked if we could leave... More

When we arrived in Gyeongju, we set out to find this guesthouse in the dark on foot. Be warned: it's a bit tricky to find. That said, once we arrived, our hosts were gracious and provided us with a tour of our room and the guesthouse. There is a common kitchen and dining/living area. We stayed in a traditional room... The Choo family offer rooms around a courtyard in a traditional building. Bedding is mats on the floor. In the large courtyard there are tables and chairs under umbrellas (hot in May). They've set up the kitchen so guests can be independent: bread, jam, butter, eggs to cook, coffee, tea, purified water, refrigerator where you can store your food. The... More

I have mixed feelings about recommending this place. The price is pretty awesome and you get your own room and bathroom if you choose. Yes, it's small but it's clean, there's privacy, and a place to sleep. Unfortunately, the mats you sleep on are thin and it's on concrete though heated. I was expecting more of a Japanese style futon.... More

For something a bit different on our trip we tried this traditional guesthouse in Gyeongju. For KRW35,000 each we got a single room with bathroom set around an open courtyard. It's really peaceful here and located across from the park and close to town. Sleeping on the floor takes a bit of getting used to and I have to admit... More

Sa Rang Chae is an historic guesthouse where the rooms are arranged around an internal courtyard, giving a sense of peace once you've stepped in away from the street (the guesthouse is in a quiet area anyway). The rooms are simple, Korean-style ondol rooms, where you sleep on a mat on the heated wooden floor. If you're already used to... More

We were decidedly underwhelmed by this place. The owners were nice, but we hardly saw them. The dogs bark all the time and the communal areas of the place were a little grubby. Breakfast was not so good - make your own eggs... The place is atmospheric and you do feel like you are getting an authentic Korean experience, but... More

A traditional hanok guest house in the street behind the walled section of burial mounds near the centre of Gyeongju. It's not fancy - in most rooms you sleep on the heated floor and the rooms are quite basic as other contributors have said. A couple of rooms have western-style beds or bunks and several have their own toilet/shower while... More
