I have had the good fortune of traveling to a number of high end resorts throughout the world, but Nihiwatu certainly ranks at the top. Indonesia and Sumba, in particular, is filled with beautiful untouched land, immense culture and a people whose spirit is so warm and loving. Nihiwatu exudes that warmth of spirit from the minute you land in... More

Nihiwatu is a truly magical place. With an authentic story and history regarding the inception of the resort, which goes a long way to explain how much it's success has given back to the Sumbanese community. The villas are 5 star and the entire resort offers a rustic feel, which keeps you close to an authentic Indonesian experience. Some of... More

Stayed recently for 4 nights and was completely blown away, the way the property is set and a dramatic bluff overlooking the fantastic surf is incredible. The owners are currently upgrading the place so there was some works going on but this was never felt, the units are far enough apart that noise is no issue at all. The spacious Villa had... More

Lets be honest, this place was stunning, and so i would expect it to be for the amount of money that it costs per night. The beach is unspoilt and stretches for a good couple of kilometres, no deck chairs and annoying vendors, you are totally back to nature and the elements. From the moment you arrive in Bali at... What can I say about this magical place other than the fact that this is now the benchmark against which all future holidays will be measured? Is it possible to be homesick for a place you only stayed at for 6 nights? Quite simply Nihiwatu is off the charts. The private villa we booked was beautifully finished with a large... More

Who would have thought that the best massage I had in Southeast Asia turned out to be on an island I'd never even heard of before! Nihiwatu is a five star luxury resort in Sumba, a virtually untouched Indonesian island. The water sports are exceptional, especially the surfing and stand up paddling. Everything you could possibly want is on site... More

I have been lucky enough to travel to many luxurious resorts, but the Nihiwatu experience is by far above the rest. As soon as I arrived I was enveloped in the natural habitat of the island. The thatched roof villas blend into the landscape of the trees and mountains. My adventures on the island included surfing, spear fishing, a beautiful... More

I am hoping that writing this review will help me get over my post-Nihiwatu depression! Never has a location and overall experience managed to surpass my hopes and expectations to such a degree; I simply cannot give Nihiwatu and the beautiful island of Sumba more praise. Being there for 8 days gave my fiancee and me the emotional, physical, and... More
