We negotiated with the front desk staff of Hotel Hayam Wuruk (located on Jalan Hayam Wuruk) for two nights and settled for a double room at Rp250,000/S$33.30 per night, plus Rp75,000/S$10 for an extra bed (mattress). The arrangement is that we would stay at the hotel for a night then skip off to Sikuai Island for a night’s stay, before returning to Hayam Wuruk for our 2nd night.

The room we got on the third floor is largely okay, with TV and aircon, except that the bathroom door had its knob missing. Obviously, someone had locked the door from the inside and the only solution was to remove the whole knob and lock. Hence the gaping round hole left in the door where the knob is supposed to be.
To us, this is not a big problem, especially not right after Uncle Jack's icky bathroom. A piece of tissue seals up the hole and a chair against the door keeps it shut. We're happy to be... more
