Hotel Deli River is an excellent hotel to rest and start or end your journey in North Sumatra. Very clean, steaming hot shower, beautiful restaurant and helpful staff. Not far from Medan city to take in the palace, mosque and busy square. Nice relaxing pool, breakfast very good with a range of fruits, pastries and toast. Dinner was good and... More

Deli River is clean, green and relatively calm. My room was ok but there was no bathtub and had only a basic bathroom. There was a tv but only with local channels sadly. The wifi was fine and relatively fast. Since there is absolutely nothing around but a dirty and noisy street, guests must eat in the restaurant. The dishes... More

The location of Hotel Deli River is the nearest place to Medan with a view of the Sumatran tropical jungle. Our rooms are set in a tropical garden and it takes around 40 minutes by car to the city centre. We have rooms with and without bathtub, all our Honeymoon Rooms have bathtubs and some of our Deluxe Cottages have... More

The Hotel Deli River is as lovely and peaceful an oasis as one could ask for, masterfully created amidst the bustle of suburban Medan. With an excellent restaurant, an established touring company, an extensive and beautiful tropical garden, a lovely swimming pool, and a crew of well trained staff, the family run Hotel Deli River offers everything you need with... Overall this is a very clean and well run hotel with beautifully maintained gardens but it's location is isolated. The street outside is very busy and dirty with not much on it except for a convenience store or two. It's not walking distance or an easy commute to the more central areas of Medan. It is also about an hour... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Deli River before and after our 5 day trip to Bukit Lawang and Lake Toba.. The grounds and location of the hotel and restaurant are very pleasant and, most importantly, way from the traffic. The gardens were very peaceful and lush - complete with two amiable quacking ducks!. Our cottage room was very... More

We stayed two nights at Hotel Deli River, at the beginning and end of a 15 day trip through North and West Sumatra that we arranged through Tri Jaya Tour and Travel (operated by the owners of the hotel, Diana and Dirk) in November 2014. As another reviewer has already described it, the hotel is in an oasis like garden... More

We stayed at Hotel Deli River for 3 nights in total, 1 night before and 2 nights after our tour of North Sumatra (organised by Tri Jaya, the excellent tour operator run by the hotel’s owners). Hotel Deli River is an oasis in Medan, set in beautiful gardens around a large duck pond with a lovely swimming pool at the... More

We stayed here for one night. The bed's are great, breakfast was continental and was fine. Great hygiene and the staff was super friendly! A big plus is that it doesn't lay directly to the busy main road in Medan, so it's pretty quiet at night.

This hotel lies down a narrow lane off a busy road choked with chaotic traffic. It is laid out a bit like a compound, two 3story buildings face a pond with water lilies, opposite is the main building with 2 levels of outside seating to have your meals and in the back is a swimming pool. With dinner comes a... More
