We stayed four days at this place and it was a very relaxing experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was good, the pondok very nice. We spent our time swimming, kayaking, biking, reading books and had our daily massage at the spa which was excellent! A little less pleasant were the sandflys and mosquitos. Although we... More

If you are looking for large hotels, air conditioning, WIFI and Korean BBQ then the Mutiara resort is not for you. If however you are looking for a relaxing break in a quiet, basic resort then you will love it here. My friends and I have visited the Mutiara 4 or 5 times now, either as a large group (last... More

Was delighted with the staff's friendliness. We felt very welcomed the moment we reached bintan. We didn't expect they will arrange taxi transport at the Bintan resort ferry terminal. Accommodation is bare minimum but comfortable enough for me.( I sleep anywhere) I feel the motorbike rental price is a bit steep but had fun exploring places around. Location wise, they... More

What an amazing place. I heard about it from a friend. I sent an email to Marc the owner who replied instantly. After 1 or 2 hour in cab from Bintan ferry Terminal (which was quite scaring as the drivers drove really fast in tiny roads) through beautiful nature and small village, we arrived to stumble upon a place of... For those seeking a real, back to basic yet idyllic authentic Indonesian experience, this is the place for you! An hour's drive through beautiful local villages and untouched nature from the Bintan Ferry Terminal, I arrive embraced by tall swaying coconut palm trees (planted by local staff's grandparents), handmade bamboo traditional pondoks and the tranquil sounds of nature. Built on... More

Mutiara was a perfect break from travels through Japan and Singapore - a way to get back to basics and totally relax. The beach and grounds are beautiful, and the food was all excellent. The staff was attentive but not intrusive - the perfect combination! We stayed in Pondok #7 and it was excellent - both clean and in a... More

The resort is a lovely back to basics retreat for a few days. It is very well maintained, clean and you have just around all you need. But not more! So be prepared to have some quiet and relaxing moments and bring your own book or music if you need distraction. The beach is really close and perfect for cooling... More

We visited in early November with our two children. This is not an ideal place to stay with two very young children in the midst of the rainy season as accommodation is perfectly comfortable but quite basic (no connecting bathroom etc), the only largish, roofed space is up incredibly steep steps, there is no electricity until 6pm so in the...
