The property was a historical place for Indonesia people, especially Surabaya city during the commemoration of Indonesia independence day 1945. Before 1945 it was a old hotel built by the Dutch, and right now the property still preserved as a live monument. The garden, room and also the internal decoration still reflect the oldiest, so you can feel the oldiest... More

The Hotel Majapahit is one of the 'grand dames' of Asian hotels. It is an imposing building which carries you back the the splendour of colonial days. The rooms are a *little* tired but over all the standards are very high. The rooms are exceptionally clean, the grounds are amazing and the staff are super friendly (even organising train tickets... Its a Historic Hotel, It is the place where the Rebelions took the flag of the Netherlands, the Red, White and Blue, and tear off the blue stripe of the flag.... Until now Red and White are still the coulours of Indonesia... Its old and fantastic, very colonial and nice gardens, good food, nice spa and swimming pool, only 1... More

From the first moment you step into Majapahit, you immediately realize you are in a five stars hotel. They are professional, competent and extremely accommodating. The building is on a busy road, but you can't hear anything inside. Everything has a colonial taste and the courtyards are well preserved with beautiful gardens. We didn't have enough time to enjoy their... More

Wonderful place to stay for one night. We had the cheapest room which we loved- it was a luxury room very classical. It didn't have a view so if you want a view maybe pay a little more. A peaceful retreat in the city. The staff could not have been more helpful recommending 2 great restaurants which had food and... More

I was checked in 2/5/14 for a night. We found this hotel from a friend who been here before. A nice welcoming drink served us when we arrived the hotel around 4pm. The great thing is we just paid a small amount of money to get the upgrade to executive suite. The whole hotel are fantastic and very classic British... More

The Hotel Majapahit was built in 1910 by the Sarkies family, who also built the Raffles in Singapore. It was originally called the Oranje during the Dutch colonial period. On August 17, 1945, Indonesia declared its independence. The British arrived in Surabaya around this time to take charge of sending Japanese soldiers who had occupied Indonesia back to Japan. Indonesian... More

We stayed two night here at end of July 2014. It was Eid Mubarak holiday in Indonesia. Stayed in room 041, with view of beautifully kept garden. Felt that you were transported back into old time. Its amazing to see how the hotel kept the antique furniture and accessories but still has the comfort of modern stuff. The pillows are... More

Very nice hotel. A lot of friendly gueat. The highlight was the awesome view and history of this place. It is remarkable how a hotel can bring so many history into life. Foreigners should visit here. The location is awesome at the heart of the city near Tunjungan Plaza, the biggest mall in Surabaya.
