This is an old residence which has been renovated into a small hotel. The rooms open out onto an inner courtyard. That plus the stained lass windows and the dark wood makes for a dark interior. However, the rooms are clean, the AC works, the linens are nice. The water flowing in the courtyard blocks out the street noise, so it... More

Very beautiful old building, very "tempo doeloe" (colonial). The former house of a Chinese batik producer, complete with the period furnishings. The room was a bit dark tough and smelt like moth balls, which I tracked down in the bathroom and flushed down the loo. Solved the problem partly. Nice restaurant and friendly staff. There is a small batik workshop... More

We stayed one night at this hotel on our Java tour in December 2014. We arrived rather late due the heavy traffic and were welcomed by a very friendly staff. We learned that this hotel was once a residence of a wealthy Javanese family. The rooms were small but very comfortable (no windows however, except for the ones facing indoor).... More

great hotel with a lot of charm, nice clean rooms and great hospitality from general manager Andrini Kusumawardhani. I can highly recommend the massage service in the rooms directly to a great price and phantastic to relax after a long day of impressions of Solo or after a long day of travel. The menu is simple but good.

We choose this place and city wanting a cultural experience in the traditional heartland of Java. This boutique hotel couldn't have been a better choice. With only a few rooms in a well maintained Art Deco period house of a former textile business family, each room is well appointed, clean and luxurious in that wonderful period manner. The rich hardwood... More

We stopped into Roemahkoe on a day trip to Solo (from Jogjakarta) and had some lunch there. It is tucked away from the street and the street noise and feels like a time warp when you enter the front lobby! A very pretty old hotel, once the home of a large Javanese family, this hotel oozes charm and history. We... More

This hotel is a hidden gem. It's like stepping back in time to the 1930s, with furniture, lighting, stunning stained glass and other fixtures beautifully preserved and maintained, providing a unique insight into the history of this fascinating city. Rooms are comfortable, service is diligent and friendly, and the food served in the elegant restaurant is delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

My father and I stayed one night in Roemahkoe hotel. The hotel is an old colonial building, we liked the ambiance very much. We were also very satisfied with the personal attention of the staff. We would like to go back if we were in Solo again!

This is our standard destination when we go to Solo. There is so much that is good about it: fantastic atmosphere, great staff. But it is not cheap, and it would be good if some of the income was being used to maintain the quality. Bedding is now very worn; the drains need some serious attention, and there are some... More

'Roemahkoe' means my house written in an old way of Indonesia language. I felt feeling staying in a great grandparent's house. Very cozy and warm. The hotel management keeps the building as the one used to be belong to 'juragan batik'. Staffs were friendly and helpful. For the guest who likes an antique, small and cozy place to stay; 'Roemahkoe'... More
