Hotel looks as past it's best but you can find here a clean room with comfortable beds and bathroom with hot shower. Family room for 3 persons costs 400,000. Walking distance to historical places, main square and bird market. BTW, backpackers' hostel "Kampong Tourist" is located on the roof of Helios. They offer cheap accommodation and a nice open-air bar.

We stayed here 2 night in June. The hotel is ok, not special. When we checked in they gave us a twin room even though we specifically booked a double room. When we informed the receptionist who walked us to our room he left us in the middle of the hall way with all our luggage and did not come... More

Had a great experience with Kampong Tourist hostel.l so decided to book a three day two night tour to Bali via Mount Bromo and Ijen. Did not have. Good experience. - expensive- 1,500000 each (approx 75 pound each) for 2 days 1 night, for three people. Can get cheaper elsewhere in malang. Advertised as a luxury company- but other cheaper... We stayed here at the beginning of April and found it to be both very clean and comfortable during our 3 day stay. We were hesitant about the hotel after reading other reviews but we needn't have been worried. It was clean and comfortable, and in a very good location. We walked to the town centre, bird market & flower... More

We originally planned to go to Mt Bromo from Surabaya, but once there we decided to go to Bromo from Malang instead. Called up Helios Transport when we were in Surabaya to enquire about transportation to Bromo on the next day (superb job, this Helios Transport people - will write another review about them), and we found from internet that... Helios was recommended to me by the charming GH I stayed in in Solo, so I went. I was not expecting a place that was trying so hard to be chic, but the promise of a hot shower and a real bathroom sink let me say yes. My room was fine for a solo traveler, no complaints there, but every... More

Quite new rooms, however not really good quality. Our toilet was not working, the hot water didn't work and the staff didn't want to fix it. Dissapointing... Further when we had to pay our room they charged without any reason 70.000 extra for the night. This is not how you treat your customers.

Overall I thought it was fair value (250k if I remember correctly). On the rooftop there is a backpackers place that has a great atmosphere. The helios tour office just outside can arrange tours. I rented a scooter there, which worked fine. And they didn't require my passport as a deposit, which another guesthouse did. The breakfast is not spectacular,... More
