We stayed for only 2 nights in August 2014 but we really enjoyed our time at Alam Shanti. The Narmada room is really nice and spacious. It could easily accomodate my wife and me with our three children and one infant in a cot. The pool is fairly large and nicely located, the ricefield views from both the large balcony... More

We stayed in the Narmada room for 7 nights in July and August. This is peak tourist time for Bali and Ubud was heaving with traffic so it was very relaxing to retreat to the beautiful rooms and gardens at Alam Shanti in the afternoon. Narmada room was very spacious and had a lovely, large garden with lotus pond, mango... More

More beautiful and atmospheric than Alam Shanti will get difficult! We stayed in the Gangga villa with a family of 4. The view from the room is very nice, extensive breakfast is served at your terras, the service at the lobby is splendid but you're staying in the country side of Ubud. This means that you will find a gekko... More

What a gem this is. Hidden away next to the rice fields but walking distance from the hive of activity in Ubud via the Sacred Monkey Forest. Our stay at Alam Shanti was absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly helpful and totally professional. Our room - Yamuna - was set in picturesque grounds and offered peace and tranquility. It was... More

Spent 5 nights at the Alam Shanti in August 2014 and loved every minute of it! The property is a series of separate private villas with amazing gardens surrounding each one. We stayed in the "Narmada" and our friends stayed upstairs. The rooms are spacious, with a large bed (incl mosquito nets) small day bed inside, massive dressing room which... More

Ours is a fairly typical American family of five. That is to say, we are not the most quiet, unobtrusive group around. So it was with great pleasure that I read, upon our arrival in early July, the Alam Shanti guest manual and found this sentence under the category "Here are a few guidelines of what to avoid": "Get extremely... We stayed here for 4 nights last year with our children and stayed on the top floor of the Indus house and had arranged our booking via email with great ease. Beautiful reception area. This place is quite magical, the staff are attentive and friendly but never intrusive. Our room was beautiful, large bedroom with a separate single bed and... More

We had a lovely 3 nights in Laskmi..the only room available. Very clean and was ample space for 2 adults and 1 14 year old. Wayan was very friendly at front reception..some of the others were friendly but did not go out of their way. Breakfasts fresh and very prompt. Towels could use an upgrade..but all in all a wonderful... More

Great little villa style rooms out amongst farmland. Was reasonable convenient, 20mins to walk to the town via the monkey Forrest which was also great to see. The attached spa was a decent, if not a little overpriced, but all in all pretty good.

Alam Shanti is an excellent place for a peaceful homebase while exploring Ubud. We spent a week there, and loved coming "home" each afternoon after seeing sights in town. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the room and balcony were spacious and comfortable, and the pool was great for kids. We were concerned that being south of the Monkey... More
