It all started when we arrived and wanted to have a quick lunch after our ride (don't talk about km in Bali, but time..), we figured out that the staff hardly spoke English (or any other European language), that the service was extremely slow and the food not good, particularly given the price which was about the same as in... more

An idyllic place to stay. A blend of open Balinese architecture with beautifully landscaped gardens provided a real sense of living amongst the tropical rainforest. The “Garden View” room, although well appointed, was restrictive in its outlook and so after the first night of huddling on the doorstep to appreciate the surroundings we upgraded to a “One Bedroom Valley View... more

We stayed 2 nights at The Payogan for our honeymoon at the end of August. We arrived to receive a very slow check-in, after which we were shown to our garden villa. Our room had a terrible odour with all the bedding covered in mould and stains! You could smell sweat through the pillows and we had to lay our... more

Dear All, I have spend three days in Payongan (25-28 of July 08). It is just another example of a paradisiac place, where poor management impact what could be a truly great experience. Here are the main highlights for this place: Strengths: - excellent location - beautiful view - nice vegetation and plants in the resort - good breakfast -... more

this will be a long awaited review. we stayed here 2 years ago. my boyfriend and i stumble upon this hotel from one of the travel agent booths at bali denpasar airport. we were there after the 2nd bali bombing incident. so i guess tourism in bali was very affected. we decided to stay at this hotel after looking at... more

We stayed at the Payogan in January 2008 and found it to be both lovely and inconsistant at the same time. We had a 2-bedroom villa with a private fresh water pool (much appreciated since I'm allergic to chlorine), which was lovely. With the exception of the fact that the upper bedroom had terrible lighting (no chance to read at... more

Our tour agency (balitraveling) booked us on this hotel, though our original choice was The Maya. Since this place is much cheaper and the photos looked good and remarks generally positive, we decided to give it a try. I share similar remarks with most of the other reviews posted - the surrounding is just so beautiful and peaceful and the... more

We just got back from Ubud yesterday & stayed for 1 night at the Payogan, although our original plan was to stay for 5 nights. If you look at my attached pics you will probably think "WOW!" The hotel is really amazing looking & opulent, especially the lobby, dining rooms, pool area & extensive grounds. When you look at the... more

A beautiful peaceful setting in lovely gardens, but this hotel didn't live up to expectations after a stay in the Novotel Benoa which was cheaper and far better. The bed linen was stained, the room was like a mausoleum - huge and bland. With all the lovely art and textiles in the area it would have been easy to brighten... more

This hotel and its surroundings are really beautiful. We had our own little "villa" with our own small private pool. There is a great view over a small valley and the whole site is really beautiful with little gardens. The main pool is also very pretty. There is a shuttle service into town. If you'd like to go into town... more
