Staying at Alam Jiwa as I type (wireless connection even!) and it is paradise, just as I had read in Trip Advisor! The most beautiful setting looking over rice paddies, coconut palms and jungle. Giant fluorescent butterflies, geckoes, bats, orange dragonflies, ducks, squirrels and even extremely attractive unscary spiders abound! People are amazing and food delicious. My boys (seven and... more

This place puts you right in the heart of rice paddies, Ubud, and Bali. The decor makes you feel like Balinese royalty with the manicured grounds, and surrounding Balinese statues. I thought this was a quaint place, and loved eating breakfast and the fruits on the balcony. The only complaint is that my boyfriend saw droppings from bedbugs underneath our... more

I found the Alam Jiwa through the raving reviews on Trip Advisor, and I am extremely glad to have stayed there for 3 days. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the rooms huge and just beautiful. As far as I could see, each room occupies one floor of a 2-3 floor house. There are 4 houses in total, I... more

We stayed in the Cendrawasih suite with our six children. The suite was HUGE, three floors with three large beds. It felt like being in a castle with the stone wall and furnishings. We really liked the room it gave us, and the full dining room below. The view was okay, but not great. It offered a great value for... more

I cannot say enough good things about this little gem we discovered in Ubud. We were trying to stay at a sister hotel called the Alam Indah but it was full. We paid a little more to get the casuary room and it was worth it. For our honeymoon it was a delight. The service was excellent, the views were... more

Tucked out of the way down a narrow lane this series of 3 storey buildings of lovely Bali architecture, give a floor each to the guests. Massive palatial balconies overlooking rice fields and good furnishings make it a most memorable stay. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff , even though they do not cater on site they will... more

Back in Bali for a relaxing week away from Singapore. My first time at Alam Jiwa and I greatly enjoyed it, although it's rather a distance from Ubud, it proved to be what I needed, especially as Ubud's become a little hectic in the center now. This hotel has real character and one casn forgive it the few gripes one... more

I used the internet to book a three night stay. The website made me sign up for a booking service with password etc., all of which was cumbersome. But I got an e-mail confirmation with a reservation number and "thank you for your reservation" language. A few months later (a week before our trip) I clicked on the link that... more

Rare is it that you will find a hotel that oozes character and fits into its natural surroundings as well as Alam Jiwa does. Add in reasonable prices and an incredibly friendly staff that is eager to please and you have a package that is hard to beat. Staying at Alam Jiwa does require some trade-offs, though in my opinion... more

My son and I stayed at Alam Jiwa for four nights at the beginning of our stay in Bali. The setting, landscaping and houses are charming. Our room was tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable - with a large balcony overlooking a stream, two oversize twin beds, and a spacious bathroom with a fabulous deep tub. But even more important than... more
