If you want to avoid the hectic central-Ubud scene, but still be within walking distance, then Alam Jiwa is a great choice. We stayed in the Merpati room, which I'd highly recommend as it's on the top floor looking through the tree tops to the rice paddies/ducks, distant volcano, and river just below. (Though there probably isn't a bad room... More

We have stayed at the Alam group hotels several times and keep returning, because they are such beautifully authentic Balinese. The rooms are large, the outside bathrooms so great, and the grounds so beautiful. Unless you have been to this type of hotel, it is hard to describe. The rooms are like small bungalows, with hand carved Balinese furniture. The... More

Staying in a traditional Balinese hotel overlooking the rice paddies was indeed a wonderful experience. The size of the rooms in these suites will blow you away. We stayed in the Casuary Suite and it was exactly as shown in the photos of this property. Wonderful breakfasts with plenty of food, afternoon tea and cake and free shuttle service to... More

We reserved at Alam Jiwa at the suggestions of friends, and we were very happy with the stay. The staff was exceptionally pleasant and the accommodation exceeded our expectations. The suite was large and bright, with a king bed, quiet and effective AC, a large outdoor shower with a view overlooking the rice fields. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast with... More

We stayed at Alam Jiwa for 5 nights from the 16th to the 25th Feb. It was our second visit, this time we stayed in Garuda room on the ground floor which was very spacious, had a large balcony and an outdoor bathroom. We had a beautiful breakfast on the balcony every morning overlooking the rice fields and very much... More

2 parties stayed here at the end of a Bali Holiday and both agreed Alam Jiwa ticked all the boxes. The upstairs rooms overlooking the rice fields are amazing, as is the indoor/outdoor bathroom. I have stayed at Alam Indah and Alam Gili before and the breakfasts are the same - superb! Much as I like to try different places... More

We loved our stay at Alam Jiwa for 4 nights recently. The room was very large with a lovely spacious bathroom and verandah. The walkway to the room was so pretty and kept very clean. The view over the river and rice paddy was so pretty and relaxing. The staff make this place as they are so friendly and helpful.... More

With mixed feelings (since I shudder at the place becoming so popular we won't be abel to get a booking to come back), the Ala Jiwa is just what I imagined a colonial era local hotel might feel like. Rooms are wonderful, the view over the rice fields to die for, the service amazing, and the grounds inspiring. The afternoon... More

Ubud is the Cultural Center of Bali and the best way to experience the spirit of Bali is to spend the night at Alam Jiwa. Service is great! The atmosphere of this hotel is very comforting as guest is being guided by its staff accordingly from booking to transfer to even coordinating with the individuals involved in the tours.
