Birgit is my Bali buddy for a very long time and one of the most gracious , amazing , caring & outstanding superhosts you can wish for . I stayed many times in Ubud at various cute and well priced rooms she offers there , always enjoy my off time . She knows the best restaurants & spas , shops... More

Stayed here for 4 nights, splitting my time in two different rooms as I decided to stay longer last minute. I loved both of the rooms - Moon and Hanuman bungalow - with awesome semi-outdoor bathrooms. Great chatting with the awesome host and cleaning ladies in the morning, they were very helpful in recommending places to go and booking trips... More

Balila was amazing! The location could not have been better. It is just off the main street and right next to the cultural center. There were many restaurants nearby and it is walking distance from the monkey forest. Brigit and her husband and staff were great and they offer tours and massages to add to your experience. I stayed in... More

I stayed in the Moon room. Wifi was great. Fan was strong (had to cover myself with the blanket in order not to feel too cold). Bathroom feels cool and inviting. Hot water comes easily. Made and Birgit are always friendly and welcoming. Feels like I am staying with friends. Made showed me how to eat the salak fruit and... More

We found this lovely homestay to be one of the high points of our visit. Birgit and Made were fabulous hosts ,tour guides and airport taxi service. We stayed in the Orange room in back and thought it was perfect. There is a nice covered porch, beautiful pond, mosquito nets on the bed, charming garden bathroom and great breakfast. There... More

Nice basic family-run guesthouse in Ubud. Not directly in the heart of Ubud, but still a great and easy location to get everywhere you need (and we did it with a two year old!). Rooms are clean with good mosquito nets and fans, awesome balcony to lounge on and listen to evening musical performances from nearby gallery. Honest breakfast options,... More

It is impossible to calculate the value of safety, good vibes and flexibility. When staying at Balila, I had a very welcome feeling and can recommend it with all my heart. The location is great, if you are looking for something quite central, but still not in the middle of all of the action. Rooms were clean and had some... More

Birgit and Made were wonderful hosts, and the room itself (we had the purple room) was lovely. It's convenient to everything in Ubud (next door to ARMA), but set back down an alley and behind the gardens so it felt secluded and private. Made is also a tour guide, so we hired him to take us around Bali for a... More

We stayed with Birgit and Made for 7 days in July and I couldn't recommend a better budget option for Ubud. The advantages are that it really is within walking distance of town (a lot of places claim to be but they are not really) and the hosts are an absolute wealth of information. the breakfast is fabulous and Wayan...
