We were referred to Mawar by a friend who visits Bali regularly and in particular Mawar Homestay. We were supposed to stay at a different Homestay but we chose Mawar Homestay instead. The place is built with Balinese architecture, hidden behind the shops of Ubud. We stayed here for 3 nights. Stayed here for three nights last week. -Excellent location. Its on the main street but the rooms are quite far back so you cant here the road at all. -large room. It's not hell nor is it heaven. If you can find somewhere better, I'd reckon that would be a better option. Let me summarise the good and the bad on Mawar homestay for your convenience. I made the mistake of believing all the positive reviews of this place. Either they were all written by proxies of the owner, or these people have never stayed at a decent home stay before. Mr Ketut Mawar is an excellent host, he had a very discrete but reassuring way of making you feel at home in their family compound house. You are made to feel as a guest. We stayed here for a week and felt that this family compound had a welcoming and relaxing feel to it. The breakfast was good, the rooms were clean and so were the bathrooms.
