We were supposed to stay at a different Homestay but we chose Mawar Homestay instead. The place is built with Balinese architecture, hidden behind the shops of Ubud. We stayed here for 3 nights. I made the mistake of believing all the positive reviews of this place. Either they were all written by proxies of the owner, or these people have never stayed at a decent home stay before. Mr Ketut Mawar is an excellent host, he had a very discrete but reassuring way of making you feel at home in their family compound house. You are made to feel as a guest. We stayed here for a week and felt that this family compound had a welcoming and relaxing feel to it. The breakfast was good, the rooms were clean and so were the bathrooms.
