We had a pleasant stay here. It is a great location, close to beach and markets and the restaurant is right on the beach front. The self contained room we had was fine, slightly odd pebbled bathroom seems quite 70's. The restaurant food was ok , sort of average. It was our first night in Bali so just adjusting and... More

We only got to stay here for one night but it was blissful! We had a flight from Denpasar the following day so it was a luxurious rest before heading to HK. Beautiful setting, stylish rooms and friendly staff. The pool was lovely and you're also right on the beach, good location for the shops of Sanur too. The only... More

La Taverna was recommended by a friend as a great getaway on the beach. During the week I am very busy running my businesses so sometimes I just need to get away with my business partner and his family for some Rest & Relaxation. La Taverna has an ambiance of an earlier time in Bali before it became an international... More

We spent 10 days in this lovely hotel. The location we knew before, as we stayed in another hotel the year before. The hotel has beautiful old and characteristic rooms with Bali furniture and lots of atmoshere. The staff is excellent, the beach chairs and lounge chairs on the beach are super comfortable, it is just a very very relaxing... More

I always stay at La Taverna because it has such character and such lovely staff and the location is amazing! the history is it was one of Bali's first hotels & it was top of the line luxury and style for the 70's jetset. Lowrise, beautiful gardens, beautiful beds & carved furniture, every room has character, either old Balinese or... More

I wouldnt bother staying there again. There are much nicer hotels in the area. It is very dated & old. We stayed there for our honeymoon in 1985 and is pretty much the same as 30 years ago. No chance of over eating at breakfast as it is not a buffet and you only get a small potion on a... More

We have just returned to Aus after staying at La Taverna in Sanur. This is not your clinical holiday stay, but we found it very comfortable to say the least. The unit was very quirky but serviced our holiday needs. If you are a 5 star traveler, then this not for you. We would however stay again if the opportunity... More

We've stayed here for 2 nights in 1 of the 'simple' rooms. The room was nice decorated, large, a bit dark and a veranda. It took around 5 minutes before the shower water was warm (not even hot). Breakfast was mwah. Not healthy because of the crossants and some other dough bread. Swimmingpool and restaurant was nice and the location... More

1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2015

I stayed two nights at La Taverna, architecturally an odd mix of Mediterranean and old Balinese. I had a garden room, #7. The room was dark and dingy, claustrophobic, had a stale, musty smell, drab furnishings, zero privacy, with no comfortable area to sit. It was really awful! This would possibly be expected and acceptable if you were paying budget... More

2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2015

Went there for dinner on Christmas Eve along with other foreign tourists. The service was painfully slow, the food was average, the experience disappointing. The hotel is in a great location (on the beach) but obviously poorly managed. They desperately need a floor manager (as they have in other hotels) to ensure that the staff are on their toes and...
