Room had view of adjoining wall only, about 1.5m away. Room was well set out but issues with cleanliness of bed linen, mattress cover disgusting covered with stains and blood marks. Mouldy pillows. Breakfast in downstairs room, stank of mould. Staff were nice but inefficient. View of Ganges from rooftop but also of airconditioners for building and excess building material... More

Simply over rated. The photos shown in various websites are a misrepresentation. Particularly the facade of the hotel.Actually the photo represents the Total building ,half of it is an adjoning guest house. The rooms are small and cramped. On the first day we did not get even customary potable water in a jug and we are supposed to drink over priced botteled... More

I don't really need any luxury, impressive facilities, gourmet food or super modern features. I'm good with a comfortable clean room and bathroom, but the most important for me is a good service, and if you own a hotel this should be the one thing you could guarantee. The staff at Palace on Ganges made me uncomfortable from day 1... More

We stayed at palace on ganges for 2 nights, and at first we booked for 3 nights from 29 july to 1 of august. We stayed at the top floor, with an amazing view. And thats about it. After checking in the horror began. Before choosing this hotel we cheched the neighbours hotel: ganges view. Were we where not really... More

I consider myself to be very lucky to have found this amazing place of comfort in the hot summer months by the side of the Ganges. On the Assi Ghat this hotel overlooks the river. The rooms are very comfortable and the clean. The bathroom is also modern and nice. Food is well cooked on the roof top terrace and restaurant.... More

I stayed here for a few nights in July. The hotel is quaint and is a short walk to Assi Ghat. It is very clean and has a good and friendly staff. The highlight is the food, some of the best hotel food I had while travelling in India. Unfortunately, we never had hot water in the room, which was... More

If you are coming to Varanasi, this is at the end of the Ghats, but it offers a bit of quality so it may be trade for comfort vs. Location. It is on the river and there is its own little scene at this end. Staff is nice, price is on the higher end and worth it if you can... More

One of the few Varanasi hotels to be located just one the banks if the Ganges. On Assi Ghat to be precise. Rooms are a bit cramped but location, ambience and service more than makes up for it. Need to buy wifi vouchers @400/- a day. No free parking. Paid Parking is right across the Hotel.

The place was spacious and modern. Very well maintained!! The staffs were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Palace and ganges hotel was a haven of comfort, close to city center and areas of interest. The staff was most welcoming, helpful and courteous. A good appointed house. Exceptionally friendly environment Very clean, comfortable and a great location within walking distance to most... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
