I stayed here for a few nights in July. The hotel is quaint and is a short walk to Assi Ghat. It is very clean and has a good and friendly staff. The highlight is the food, some of the best hotel food I had while travelling in India. Unfortunately, we never had hot water in the room, which was... More

If you are coming to Varanasi, this is at the end of the Ghats, but it offers a bit of quality so it may be trade for comfort vs. Location. It is on the river and there is its own little scene at this end. Staff is nice, price is on the higher end and worth it if you can... More

One of the few Varanasi hotels to be located just one the banks if the Ganges. On Assi Ghat to be precise. Rooms are a bit cramped but location, ambience and service more than makes up for it. Need to buy wifi vouchers @400/- a day. No free parking. Paid Parking is right across the Hotel.

The place was spacious and modern. Very well maintained!! The staffs were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Palace and ganges hotel was a haven of comfort, close to city center and areas of interest. The staff was most welcoming, helpful and courteous. A good appointed house. Exceptionally friendly environment Very clean, comfortable and a great location within walking distance to most... More

It's an heritage hotel, rooms are ok, beds are not really confortable, AC at the rooms work fantastic, pretty and warm hallways with Indian decor and paintings of famous Indians that went to die in Vanarasi, roof top restaurant is too hot at any time, prices are ok, hotel is locate at the Assi's Ghat end of the bank river,... Cleanliness, comfortable beds, interesting decor and fair pricing make this hotel a great choice for just about anybody. Each room is named (and decorated) after a region of India. Only negatives are that the roof-top restaurant could have more ambience and our minibar fridge didn't seem to work, but a great experience overall.

A simple hotel with good rooms and good food. The employees were very friendly and we had a nice talk with the manager. Although prices are relatively high I think it is worthwhile because of its location close to the ghats and nighty offering ceremony at five minutes walking distance

We stayed at this property for 2 nights at the end of March. We booked a double and a triple room. What a difference between the claims on the website versus the reality. The location is good as it faces the southernmost ghat of Varanasi but the view is only available from a couple of rooms. We were offered rooms... More

Our expectations were so low for Palace on Ganges, given other trip advisor comments, that we were pleasantly surprised! Some of the missteps seemed just funny… after expecting a visit to Varanasi would be a trip to hell and back , we were pleasantly surprised! Upon arriving at the hotel, having been told by my extremely competent tour arranger ,who... More

My friend and I stayed here for two days. We had two different rooms during our stay. They were both very clean with an A/C, but no free Wi-fi. The rooms had a nice size bathroom and standard beds. We liked the ambiance of the hotel and how each room had a different theme. The restaurants were nice and the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
