We stayed at the Ganges View for 2 nights with our daughter who lives in South India. We had made arrangements with the hotel to be picked up at the airport and that worked out well, or so we thought. This heritage hotel is like stepping back in time, but with modern conveniences like AC and nice, new bathroom. Our... more

We stayed here for two nights in the month of May'09 and we simply loved the place. The Ganges View was originally a house, a 150 years old which has been renovated to accomodate guests. The place still has a homely air to it and is filled with some magnificient art decorating its walls. Each room has been done up... more

My second time in India, feeling very tired and shell shocked arriving in the crazy place of varanasi! after a 40 min taxi ride anxious as to whether this hotel will actually look and feel as it says on its web page. No dissappointments! There must be 10 or so staff just there cleaning, shining, wiping, scrubbing to keep it... more

A comfortable hotel with a homely colonial feel. Upper rooms are definitely the best with good views from the communal sitting areas over the Ganges. Room and bathroom clean, but rooms would benefit from a fridge for water etc. when temperatures are up in the 40's C. Communal sitting areas are air cooled and there are many reference books available... more

We stayed in room 15 on the 2nd floor and it was lovely. Room and bathroom were clean and right outside our room was a comfortable enclosed sitting area with AC (great for hot afternoons) with views of the Ganges. The beds were very hard and the aircon in the room cut in and out sometimes but even in 45... more

We stayed at other hotels in varanassi, all supposed to be top range, but the ganges view was far and away the best. Our room (number 13 ) was excellent and although the bathroom is a little shabby for such a great hotel , it was definately the best place to stay in varanassi. The terrace where breakfast is taken,... more

Peaceful location, not as manic as other parts of the city. The room was decorated nicely but the bathroom could have been cleaner. Meals were very nice but be warned it is strictly vegetarian. Breakfast was taken up on the terrace and their banana porridge was divine. All in all it was a good place to stay but we felt... more

Clean rooms in stylish hotel, but significant problems - the beds were so hard I couldn't sleep - we had no hotwater for the three nights we were there, despite assurances it had been fixed - service was painfully slow. It took nearly an hour to get toast and tea in the morning - incredibly noisy If you want to... more

There are not too many choices, if one wants to stay in a hotel along the Ganges river. But from a small hotel like that, we had expected a far friendlier and more personalized service. No greeting when we entered the house. With just a few words one of the guys showed us to our room. Well Ganges view, yes,... more
