The position is just about the only thing it has going for it.. But having said that it is the location that is important in a two day visit.. So all else becomes rather irrelevant The outside and inside are rather beautiful.. Rooms are fine except the bathroom takes the worldwide prize in its ghastly impractical design The problem is... We were unfortunate in Varanassi as it rained for much of the time-the place itself is a litter strewn dump, even by comparison to other places we have visited in India. Our room at the hotel itself was decent although everything felt slightly damp in there-towels, loo rolls, etc. The restaurant is more like a very basic canteen although we did... More

I liked this hotel a lot. The wifi wasn't great, but at least it was free. The room was nice and the sleep quality was decent - some barking dogs interfered with my dreams one night, but earplugs worked well to fix that! My shower was fine once it warmed up. The location was great. We usually hopped on boats... More

Went there with a few friends in April 2014. A beautiful palace turned into a heritage hotel - warm and courteous staff - very helpful. the best part of the hotel is it is right there on a ghat - and they provide boats for you to visit various places. I think 2 rides per day or 2 rides for... More

My second time in Varanasi... so this time, I decided to stay near the Ganges and I opted for this hotel... and I don't regret it. I was a bit scared based on other reviews, but don't think twice, and if you can afford it, book it. We arranged the airport pick-up with the hotel, it's advisable as the most... More

We had 2 rooms on the third floor with one front facing the Ganges. The view is fantastic. I cannot fault the rooms service or location and quite frankly it was a relief not to stay in the main throng of this city. Others have said the hotel is only accessible by boat but this isn't quite true. You can... More

The building itself is quite nice, but surrounded by emply and run down buildings so although this is not the hotels fault, it doesn't give it a good appearance. We were greeted well and shown to our room which although a bit basic, was clean and pleasant enough. However, both the towels and the bedding were very damp and although... More

We spent two lovely nights here at this wonderfully located hotel. It is right on one of the ghats of the Ganges and only a few hundred metres from the main ceremonial and cremation sites. It is only reachable by boat, but this, in itself, is a great experience. The hotel is full of character and offers great vantage points... More

Not a business hotel, access is only through boat so sometimes it gets annoying as it takes good 20 minutes to reach the ghat where vehicles are allowed. They have limited rooms and even limited staff. Service is poor and for the most part they are out of stock on everything. This being a heritage property which is renovated, not... More

Wonderful historic hotel on the Ganges with impeccable service. Utterly beautiful and inspiring. A couple of things to be aware of - you can't reach the hotel by road - you have to call for the hotel boat to pick you up. Also the restaurant is not licensed and the wifi only works on the top floor. Despite that I... More
