Good location near lalita ghat, affordable prices, decent rooms, pretty good restaurant upstairs with a great view. Rough and ready but the price is average and it's nowhere near as bad as some we saw in Varanasi! Does have wifi and occasionally hot water. Definitely fine as a base to explore. Has Sitar player at night on the roof and... More

We stayed here after our first two options were unavailable or too pricey. It's location down a few dark alleyways is daunting at first, but it's in the heart of Old Varanasi City and very close to the burning ghat. If the craziness of Varanasi becomes too much, the hotel's rooftop restaurant is the perfect place to escape, with an... More

Followed instruction from the Lonely Planet guide (should be taken out). The staff are helpful when they want to get money out of you by taking you to shops and earning commission rates but not so much when your bed is broken so your having to sleep on the floor or when you want them to phone you a taxi... It's a good option for budget traveling. The room rates are very affordable. The rooms are clean but can be a bit noisy in the morning. We stayed in a room next to the stairs. This might be a reason for the noise when people walks up and down. However, we didn't have problem to fall asleep at night. When... More

This is a budget guest house in the middle of Varanasi. It can be quite noisy as the building is not very good isolated, and is located in the chaotic streets. It was a OK stay compared to the price we payed, I think around 1250rupees for a double room per night. The bed is quite good actually, and the... More

Rude people managing it. They lie to you about the price. They charge you the commissioners tip. There's no hot water for a shower, you have to shower in one of the owner's room and there are rats. It is really cold in the room and noisy neighbors. Personally, the place in which I slept worst in India, I wouldn't... More

This is an average hotel, compared to others has a decent price but you have to suffer from people at the reception talking loud all night long and you can hear this all the way to your room, in the early morning the communicate by screaming from the rooftop restaurant to the reception, so you will be waked up early... We stayed recently for 1 night at puja guest house. Was meant to be 3 night. Our first problem was we booked a morning boat on the Ganges with the owner for the quoted price of 600 rupees for the boat he said to us "the more people the cheaper for you". So 2 people 300 each 3 people 200... More

From the rooftop restaurant, the highest around; spectacular views of the Ganges surround you. The food is good and there's plenty of it available most ours of the day and night. Rooms are at least comfortable, the bars on the windows protecting you and your belongings from the hands of monkeys. There's even air-con available in a couple... A great... More

And surprise surprise...it was not a pleasent stay. The AC worked only for an hour, mainly producing extreme sounds of a rattling boat and exhaling what can only be described as a mini heatwave in our very grotty room. The whole hotel stank of an uncleaned street toilet. Don't bother with the roof top restaurant either: food is mediocre, that... More
