We stayed a few nights at Hotel Sheela as we got ill from eating street food and couldn't get on the road again! The food there was nice although we couldn't eat much, the breakfasts were a lifesaver though. They brought food to our room as we were ill which was sweet. The staff were friendly and the courtyard very... more

We arrived in Agra on the early morning train with our backpacks in tow. This was a cheap ($6) option so we could stow our bags in a (relatively) safe place, have a snack and take a shower before we caught the evening train for our overnight trip to Jaipur. All things considered, Hotel Sheela served it's purpose for us... more

it was okay for the price... but the excellent location (just 2 min walk to the East Gate of the Taj Mahal) is the main asset. nice courtyard and okay food - the Sheela was actually recommended to us as one of the only places in Agra where you don't get sick, and we can confirm this :-) Highly recommended:... more

We booked this place for two nights and regretted it as soon as we arrived. The rooms were of poor standard, uncomfortable, no air con working and infested with mosquitoes. The staff did spray the room to help clear the mossie problem. The best thing about this place is the close proximity to the east gate of the Taj Mahal.... more

As soon as we arrived in India we bought a cell phone for $20 and called our hotels to make a reservation. (Hotel Sheela: 91 562 2333074 ) this is better than email reservations. We arrived by night train, took a pre-paid rickshaw to the Eastern entrance of the Taj. (50 rupees) Walked about 30 feet and found the hotel... more

Awful hotel - nothing like the reviews! Dirty room, curtains hanging off rail, no hot water, filthy bathroom. Terrible breakfast - can't recommend anything other than has a good location but would have rather stayed outside non pollution zone in a decent hotel than here. Don't go! more

This very small "hotel" was so close to the gates of the Taj that was the main attraction. Even though they did not have hot water..although they advertised they did..it was so stinking hot a cold shower was more than welcome. The best feature of Hotel Sheela was the grounds. It was so peaceful, relaxing and quiet it was such... more

After reading the reviews of this hostel, Ive come to the decision that hostels or hotels as they call themselves are very hit or miss in tis area. We had none of the problems that the other reviewers encountered. In fact we moved to this hotel after staying in Hotel Kamal round the corner because of some of the issues... more

My friend and I arrived at Agra by the earliest train: the Bhopal Shatabdi Express so we could experience Taj Mahal to the fullest. We arrived at the Hotel around 9am and at the reception were told we had to wait till 10-10:15am to check in since that was the check out time and our rooms were not free. We... more

As others have said, the garden and location are good the rooms are not. We stayed in the most expensive room and it was not clean. Agra is a dump and unless you have longed all your life to see the Taj, I wouldnt bother going. more
