We stayed at Hotel Sheela due to the proximity to the Taj Mahal. It was the perfect place for a sunrise visit via the quieter East Gate but that is all. The ticket office is 1km/10 min walk from Hotel Sheela so buy your ticket the day before if possible. Pros: 30 sec walk to the east gate Very good... More

A real shame of a place. Booked a room for me and a friend in early March for a night to see the Taj Mahal. The place is RIGHT by the east entrance on the Taj (The quieter easy entrance to enter from). It has a quiet garden and adequate restaurant but unlike the Lonely Planet review the room we... More

this hotel is on the east gate, the one that opens early in the morning at 6 am. this is a place worth staying as it is very close, peaceful and serene.the chirping of the birds and insect sounds gud.

LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about this hotel! If your on a small budget and want somewhere gorgeous, friendly and clean you just stay here! The staff are so helpful and really helped us with our transport from Agra to Varanasi (that was not easy!) They're dog JoJo is adorable and the restaurant does incredible food at a really good price!

Its located just a 5 min walk away from taj Manal. Very basic kind of hotel with no hot water facilities. Restaurant is okay. But U can try other hotels nearby to eat. Rooms R okay with normal bed. Its very much low budget hotel.

i honestly enjoy my staying at Sheela. location is amazing: 1 min walk from the East Gate of the Taj! The room was ok. I honestly dont mind cold water. The restaurant serves decent overpriced food and the staff will never leave you alone always asking if you want to drink something. I was asked 300 rupees for a can... More

We visited in January, so it was very cold and we had to ask for extra blankets. Even with extra blankets we had to go to bed in thermal underwear and clothing. I addition there was no hot water. The sheets did not look very clean. In terms of location the hotel is good as it is close to the... More

Right near the east gate of the Taj so no complaints there, nice and secluded too. Rooms are cabin style, and could be cleaner but not too bad, many bugs but due to the area to be expected. WiFi only works in lobby/restaurant area but was fairly reliable. Nice breakfasts and dinner and too.

Very basic, not the cleanest looking place. The only way of having a hot shower is by using a bucket with hot water. The location is perfect though... Its literally right outside the eastern gate of the entrance to the Taj. That is the only reason to stay here because its close to the gate.

With a beautify gated and a great location (really close to the big Taj), this hotel could have been a great deal...however, rooms and bathrooms are dirty and the manager is a crook... Such a shame. Only good thing is that only one glance at the Taj Mahal makes you forget this crap;)
