this is a well maintained lodge with great access to the chambal river. very comfortable, not overly lavish. we loved the bathrooms and the large courtyards with charpoys. the furnishings were selected with care. but the big thing about this place is the wildlife it offers inside the property (civets jumping along the trees, mongooses, fruit bats, jackals) and outside... A lovely lodge surrounded by trees and full of birds. There is a colony of flying foxes (a species of bat) within the woodland over 100 strong. They cause no noise or disturbance. It is a short walk from the nearby village where you can get a real feel of Indian village life. Be careful where you walk though if... More

Well! This place is a hidden gem when it comes to a short break from Delhi. Somehow this place is not a very famous destination, may be that is a deliberate to avoid rush which is imperative to maintain the tranquility of this place. to begin with, allow me to tell more about the route. in 3-4hrs max, you are... Living in Delhi, it is great to get away from the noise, dirt and bad air in the city and this place is definitely to be recommended. It is about 5 hours drive from Delhi. As it turned out, we were lucky that we finally decided to go end of April as the place closes from beginning of May till... More

My wife and I took a Chambal River Safari tour with Dushyant Singh as our guide. It was the highlight of our India trip! We stayed at a hotel in Agra and came here as a day trip (though we would have loved to have stayed here overnight). The trip started with lunch at the lodge, and a short walking... More

On arrival we were shown our room which was really nice with a private garden area. Lots of nice touches including mosquito coil and spray. Unfortunately after dinner when we went to go to bed we discovered the ac was not working and we were moved to another room which was smaller and not so nice. It was also quite... More

We decided to stay over here as we definitely wanted to do the river safari (and hopefuly see also the river dolphins) and we did !! We arrived here around lunch time (it's one and a half hours drive from Agra), very good lunch, there was a mix up on the rooms we booked, but this got sorted out after... More

Despite some changeable weather I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Chambal. The river trip is well worthwhile and luckily it was sunny with clear skies. On day two I opted for the Village walk which was wonderful. People invited me into their houses for tea and snacks and were so hospitable and friendly. The lodge owner and staff were always... More

First impressions were that the main buildings looked a bit jaded but this was soon overwhelmed by the warmth of the welcome. The staff soon won us all over with great personal service and attention. The food was local, fresh and very good. Accommodation was set in the trees and we were surrounded by many varieties of birds. Rooms were... More

Fantastic, attractive, large room. Good food, 200 rupee beer (good compared to many other lodges in the country). Intermittent slow wifi (would be better if there was none!). Great grounds, filled with bats and birds and civets. Be careful of the main building's washroom -- it's where mosquitos go on vacation.
