We stayed at McIver 180 during May 2013 for 3 nights and 4 days. Drove all the way from Bangalore and reached the place around 5 in the evening. Stunned by the first look, we inspected the room booked and were amazed at the spacious Blackwood room. We took our first evening tea sitting on the lawn, over looking the... More

This is a small hotel with only four clean, stylish and interesting rooms. The hotel itself is in quiet, well-kept and beautiful grounds. The views over Coonoor are brilliant. The staff are very helpful and you feel spoilt and well looked after. We were given a choice of Western or Indian breakfasts and both were excellent.

This property has great views over Coonoor and plenty of outside space, however the main road does run a the back of the property which does mean that traffic noise could be an issue if you are a light sleeper. The rooms are well appointed but the walls are thin and hence we heard everything in the next room. We... More

Absolutely fabulous location, not too far from town nor in the middle of the housing jungle coonoor has become. Mind blowing . Rooms are excellent and furnished tastefully. Attached restaurant is amongst the best in Coonoor Can spend your whole day just lounging in the lawn. Old heritage property.. People who own this have been around since 1800's.

This is a 132-year old Heritage property that is well maintained. The rooms are spacious and have a fireplace (at least our room did). The decor is minimal yet tasteful. The Staff are quite helpful. The Views over the valley are magnificent.

What a wonderful discovery! Everything about it was fantastic - the magnificent, breathtaking location, the luxurious rooms and charming, authentically colonial decor, and especially the lovely staff, from front office to kitchen (that's Suresh, Stephen and Justin; I didn't catch the chef's name). There was no request too much trouble and the food (both Indian and Continental) and service were... More

Everything about this place is wonderful - the location, staff, rooms, food - everything. I highly recommend the McIver, which is in a very peaceful location with amazing views over the town. The old colonial house is quite charming and you can easily walk to Sim's Park from there.

We had a family plus tourism agenda to come down to Tamil Nadu, as we went about selecting the place to come down for holiday. Ooty vs Coonoor or Kotagiri Honestly, did not really know about kotagiri but now I have been told it is the best (decent hotels, lack of crowds etc.) Anyways, we picked coonoor albeit upper coonoor... Drove late evening into Mc Iver with no expectations as it was a last minute booking and only place available at such sort notice. We were just charmed. The place has a typical colonial house feel, turned hotel with 'spot on' bathrooms. The people at Mc Iver were very tolerant to my kids tantrums, always ready to amuse my 3... More

Travelling with elderly people is quite a challenge and finding a suitable place to stay even more so! My wife and I and my elderly parents were doing a tour of southIndia and decided on trying Coonoor instead of the usual ooty thing. Reading reviews on Trip Advisor we zeroed in on McIver Villa and decided to give it a... More
