Positives: Spotlessly clean, friendly host and hostess(knowledgeable), lovely garden with fantastic views right on the Lake. Food perfect! This little known guesthouse is a gem of a find! The dining area which is shared with Carol and Babu features an enormous table with fantastic views through double wooden doors overlooking the lake.

Booked by my friend, this was one of the best hotels that I have had the pleasure of staying in. The room I had was Emporer sized, beautifully and tastefully decorated with a super-massive bed, huge bathroom, spotlessly clean and with an excellent view to boot. The staff, two young guys (sorry can't remember their names!) working for their unkle... More

We stayed at Carol and Babu's newly acquired property "Hibiscus" over the first weekend of Feb 09. Highly recommend the property for it's cleanliness, value for money, and home like feel. Babu and Carol left no stone unturned to make us comfortable. We reached Udaipur by train, without a formal confirmation of our booking, but Babu was there at the... More

My friend Cindy and I, two sixty-somethings are traveling in India and had the incredible good fortune to stumble upon reviews of the Hibiscus. A new property a block from the old Haveli on the Lake, the very low price of the rooms belies the elegance, service, decor, and friendliness of the accomodation. Local textiles in brilliant colors adron the... More

We had a fantastic 5-night stay at the (newly named) Hibiscus. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully furnished. After traveling for 5 weeks in India this guesthouse was a very welcome retreat. The hosts, Carol and Babu were exetremely helpful and easy going and made it feel more like a stay at a friend's house than a hotel. The... More

We had a fantastic time staying at the newly opened Hibiscus. It's a beautifully renovated haveli, run by Carol and Babu who were great hosts. The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean and nicely decorated with traditional furniture. The garden was great to lounge around and have breakfast in. We would thoroughly recommend it to friends, family and fellow travellers. Bindi... More

I have just recommended Haveli on the Lake to my friend and then read that it had closed. My friend and I spent a fabulous couple of days there in October, 2008. It was one of the highlights of my time in India. What really made it so good was the warmth and generosity of Carol and Babu who are... More

I stayed for one week and enjoyed every minute. Great location with beautiful views. Great restaurant nearby. 5 minutes walk to downtown Udaipur. Carol, Babu and Alfie are wonderful hosts. Please notice that the property is sold and they will reopen a new guesthouse nearby (Hibiscus).

Thank you again to all our guests who have visited us over the last two years ands given us such wonderful support. Haveli on the Lake is now closed as the Landlord sold the property unexpectedly and we have had to vacate the premises. Our new guest house, Hibiscus, is now open for business. We are located at 190 Naga... More

I loved this place and could easily have stayed longer. It is an old haveli that has been restored. The standard of accommodation is simple but comfortable. What made our stay so enjoyable were our hosts Carol and Babu Khan, who treat their guests like family, and the location and views from the haveli across the lake. It's a lovely... More

My family stayed here in the downstairs room and was awed by the beauty of the place...We found it not only comfortable but certainly one of our highlights of our stays in Rajastan. The room was incredibly clean, a pure delight! (Certainly not what I expected after reading the previous review - its not 5 star, certainly 3 star plus-... More
