Although it's an impressive property with lots of art for sale it's the most inconvenient place to stay in Udaipur as it's half an hour drive on bad roads away from the hub of activity.Without your own car you're at the mercy of the hopeless, untrained staff and have to eat the very mediocre food that they serve you at fixed... more

All couples please stay away from this hotel!! Hotel staff especially reception staff were horrible to deal with. They wanted us to shift to another room as one of their guest requested our room. When we resisted, they promptly cut off our water supply which forced us to shift our room. Our horrible experience did not end there. The room... more

This was our finest hotel experience in India. We were a group of six, and because of the attack in Mumbai, we were the only guests. We were installed in the finest rooms and treated, well, royally. The rooms were enormous, lovely, airy, with fantastic views of the Aravali hills. The shared space on our floor and our rooms were... more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights during our recent holiday. The hotel is set someway outside Udaipur and has excellent views of the surrounding hills. It's grounds are well maintained and the gardens picturesque. It has two swimming pools, one at the top and one down the bottom of the grounds. There are numerous antiques scattered around... more

I went to spend the new year with my wife at Royal Retreat. The resort is ideally located far away from the maddening crowd surrounded by beautiful Arvallis all around. We did also enjoyed the antics aptly placed all over the resort. Also attending the gala nite was an immemorable experience in itself. But our main concern was the unprofessional... more

We stayed at The Royal Retreat on the recommendation of a friend, whose uncle owned the place. We knew we were going to spend one night in the city at the Lake Palace Hotel on the lake, so we didn't mind spending 2 nights away from the city. We arrived from a terrible hectic stop in Delhi and could not... more

When I was planning my trip to India in 2006, I found that most of the best hotels in Udaipur had been booked long in advance. On a gamble, I decided to reserve a room at the Royal Retreat, which appeared to be the only semi-upscale lodging option that was both reasonably priced and within 10-15 minutes of central Udaipur.... more
