Over two and a half centuries ago, Maharana Jagat Singh II built a fairytale pleasure of white marble the surreal Taj Lake Palace. Delicately restored pavilions, cusped archways, magnificent carvings, opulent guest rooms and suites remain a testimony to courtly love. Scenic courtyards with blossoming lawns, lily-filled ponds, gushing fountains and indoor spaces filled with period pieces and extravagant embellishments will transport you into the world of fantasy, romance and magic. more » « less

Maybe it was caught off guard. We arrived from Udaivillas Hotel so no Rose Petals for us. Reception would match any 3/4 star hotel. Rooms very small, but comfortable. Nice touch of sending me 20 red roses and a get well card. I was not well. It was my wifes 50th and the the roses were meant for her. Some... more

My parents and I spent three days there in late September. The whole property has been restored a couple of years ago and is back in great shape. We had two ground floor, City Palace-facing rooms (115 and 114 I believe) which were large enough to fit, in addition to a queen size bed, two small chaiselongues and a desk... more

We stayed at the Lake palace for two nights for our honeymoon and savoured every minute of it. The service was incredible. The view from the rooftop restaurant in the evening was breathtaking. The hindu prayers coming from the mandir (Jagdish) across the lake added to the surrealness of the atmosphere. We actually enjoyed the food of the Indian restaurant... more

A last minute decision to pay a fortune for a room in a truly iconic hotel proved to be a little silly. The room we had (231) was smaller than the spare room in a dolls house; the need to get bodies on beds we supposed. Then, their key restaurant, a rooftop one, was unable to accomodate us, so we... more

If you have read any of my other reviews on this site you will know that I am not exactly easy to please. But the TLP is the business. As good or better than any hotel I have ever stayed in. Magical location . Fabulous entrance by boat with a shower of rose petals. The decor is simply beautiful and... more

Stayed at the Lake Palace for 2 nights & had a wonderful time. The experience begins with its private dock & boat ride across the lake. Service is very attentive, including a separate boat for your luggage. The boat is not as luxurious as those used by the Bangkok Peninsula, but nice enough. You then walk through a shower of... more

Udaipur was one of our last destinations in India during our honeymoon tour, and we booked two nights in the Taj Lake Palace. What a great choice that was! This hotel is incredible - needless to say it has a lot to gain from it's amazign setting, yet with such a bonus going for it, the hotel management still pushes... more

The lake palace was the first stop on a week long tour of Rajastan and the place is amazing. Our rooms overlooked the lake and the city and whilst the rooms are not huge they are very well equiped and spotlessly clean. The service and food was excellent and surpassed the standards at other Taj properties. The hotel staff could... more

The Taj Lake Palace is actually what they call "Beautiful Small World" Its a very small but extremly beautiful hotel. Really comfortable big rooms. The service is top class, as expected from TAJ. Everything in the hotel, from the rooms to the food to the service and the overall ambience, makes you feel like a king all around your stay.... more
