This place was TERRIBLE. The first cabin they put us in was dirty. Both chairs and the blinds in the living room had been chewed by a dog, didn't dare sit on the couch. The blinds in one of the bedrooms would not close, one of the rooms smelled like the aforementioned dog was still in residence. Looked like someone... More

Love this place! We were in town for the horse races at Ruidoso Downs and could not find a place near the race track, We were lucky to get a cabin here due to a last minute cancellation. The place was a real step back in time. Real cabins with two bedrooms and kitchen and fireplace. We took a gondola... More

This past weekend we stayed at the High country Lodge. It was softball tournament time and the ballpark is very close by. Our family of four including our two girls had an wonderful time and were treated very well by the Lodge staff. Even keeping the pool open an hour later until 11 PM to accomadate the teams that competed... More

We were so excited for our stay. We booked the room for that night and the next. We got lost and didnt arrive until 1am. Got to our room and thats where it fell apart. It was disgusting!!!! The floors were so dirty that when my baby crawled on them her hands and feet turned black. The couch was old... More

Our family of four made the drive from Phoenix to try skiing at Ski Apache. High Country Lodge provided a two bedroom cabin with a view of a lake. Full kitchen and the fireplace was amazing. They even provided the wood! It was the closest lodge to Ski Apache, where our two teenage sons went snow boarding. Even though there... More

Three adults and one 7 year old stayed there in December 2011 (the drop down selection for dates is wrong since it won't let me write a review that old). The 7 year old loved all the amenities and had a great time. But it is sorely dated. All the appliances are 20-30 years old. The beds were horribly uncomfortable.... More

Stayed 2 nights for a spring break with my nephews and their parents. It was their selection at the last minute so I did not get a vote. If I had a vote, I would have not voted for this place! I am used to 5 star and place was not even a half star! It did serve its purpose... More

Place was old but pretty clean. Bring your own pillow, pillows are lumpy even my five year old did not sleep in it. People running the place are very friendly an accommodating!

If you are expecting to step into a 4 star hotel, step back. We have taken our children to High Country Lodge from the time they were very young. Now they are taking their own children. There are good things about this establishment. For us it is the nostalgia of being together and swimming and playing tennis, all of the... More

We went with the High Country Lodge for the kitsch factor which it appeared to have. It isn't kitsch it is just rundown The cabins are old and poorly appointed. The furnishings are aging and uncomfortable - the couches are scratchy and the arm chairs and sinking. The furnishings will vary by cabin. We got to see two cabins because... More
