The staff at this guesthouse was incredibly nice and helpful, as was the owner. The rooms were spacious but could have been better for the price. The breakfast was not good and I would recommend maybe eating elsewhere if you're staying here. There was free wi-fi in the rooms which was great, but we did have to keep asking the... More

Colonel Roy and his staff made us so welcome to his bungalow, in spite of the 5am arrival ! The rooms are spacious and have some fine antique furniture. Air conditioning is available if required. I found the bed a little hard for my liking, but got use to it. The home cooking is a must do. Roy was especially... More

The owner, Roy, and his staff are warm and welcoming. Molly's cooking is delicious and Anil is eager to please. The heritage house is very interesting and comfortable. It is situated in a great position for exploring and shopping. Our stay was short, very sweet and most memorable. I would love to stay longer next time as it's completely charming.

Staying with Colonel Roy in his lovely home was such a highlight for us. Make sure you take time to have a home-cooked dinner with him and get him to tell you one of his terrific stories. Great host and excellent experience. Forget the bland hotel, and book a few nights here.

Colonel Roy was an awesome host. Anil, Molly and Roy made our stay so peaceful and introduced us to a side of Trivandrum we weren't aware of. The food was amazing and Roy's garden full of orchids was so beautiful. Thanks Roy! We'll be back.

We stopped with Roy for five days, his beautifull home is in the middle of town perfectley placed for all the sights. Ask him to sort your taxi and and any thing else you need and he will be only to pleased to offer help and advice. The rooms are large and airy with a fridge, Roy will also sell... More

This review is long overdue as I stayed with my boyfriend in November but it has stuck with me just how amazing the experience was. Not only is Roy a delight to talk to but also the house is lovely, as is the garden. A great location in a busy area yet tucked away that it's really tranquil. Would definitely... More

Varikatt house is indeed charming at the first sight but really needs a good refurbishment, fresh paint and thorough housecleaning. The back rooms are really dark and gloomy. Very noise as well, since it is located in a crossroad, with barking dogs, henhouse, churchs and tuk tuk horns 7/24. Doesn't worth the rating...

A very overpriced homestay with dark and unclean rooms. The owner was caring and hospitable but it didnt make up for the lack of comfort and cosiness. Location was good though in a nice neighbourhood.

Homestays don't get any better than Col. Roy Kuncheria's Varikatt Heritage. Roy and his excellent staff make you feel at home straight away and are of great assistance to any of their guests. Roy is a real officer and a gentleman, and he had a lot of great stories to tell over the excellent dinners that we enjoyed during our... More
