This hotel is gorgeous. It's simple and rustic and extremely eco friendly. It's got random game running about the property even the occasional monkey pops in for a visit. It's well maintained, quiet and extremely relaxing. The bar is gorgeous. It's got this old hunting cabin theme and is a great place to enjoy a quick drink. The rooms are... More

Beautiful Hotel with Sustainability written in capital letters. The compound is very lovely taken care off with lots off local trees. The staff is marvelous and I had the best sleep in all India. At all times you can hear the birds and animals sing!

We visited Spice Village last year just at the onset of the monsoon and I am writing this review from my notes. The place is a longish drive from Cochin airport (about 5 - 5:30 hours) and just after the flight into Cochin can be a bit tiring. However, once you reach the hotel it becomes clear that it is... Stayed at the Spice Village for three days from 16th to 18th. The resort is tucked away nicely off the main road from Kumily to Kottayam. The property spread over 8 acres is a horticultural garden of sorts. It has thousands of trees carefully nurtured and maintained of over 100 varieties. It’s a treasure trove for the horticulturally inclined. All... More

We stayed 2 nights at Spice Village last week. What a wonderful property and true to what the Hotel Claims - we had a very organic experience. Everything is serene and close to Earth. right from the Pen made of paper to the rustic yet very clean Interiors. Food was good though service was very slow. The only negatives I... More

We are going to Thekkady after more than 20 years. A lot of resorts and hotels have come up close to each other and the town is busy all day and night. Thekkady town now resembles a busy street of a Metro. In the midst of all this is “Spice village” close to the Periyar Tiger Reserve. On our arrival... More

The lovely individual cottages with thatched roofs are large, very comfortable and extremely clean. Set out like a village in beautifully kept gardens with a great pool. Very good breakfast choices with an interactive kitchen as well. Plenty of entertainment for the guests as well, such as traditional dance, cooking demonstrations, etc. Lovely indoor/outdoor restaurant serving a variety of local... More

Spice Village is the place to head to if you need to recharge your body &soul. Reduce your BP, conjoin with nature, breath the fresh unpolluted air. Sure there are many places to board in Kumily-Thekkady. SV is arguably the best. Impeccable maintenance & house keeping. Rooms are rustic with thatched roof, red oxide floors, bamboo rafters - all difficult... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Spice Village is an eco resort in the hills(thekkady) near the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. A cluster of tribal style huts set in a beautiful spice garden is a great escape for most tourists from the heat of the plains, and also a great place for some adventure activities. We have a comfortable pool, an ayurvedic spa, we organise treks into the forest, bamboo rafting and many more. A walk through the property itself is a great way to explore many aspects of nature and the green initiatives undertaken at this eco resort. ... more   less
