I had doubts about this range of pioneering 'eco friendly, community aware' hotels, before coming to Kerala, as our travel company described them as 'Medium' standard - so I avoided CGH Earth in Cochin. But based on this property, what a mistake! Our standard room - in a stand-alone thatched bungalow - was cool and tranquil, with natural air conditioning... More

I could talk about the perfect decoration or the harmony of their gardens. Could mention the exquisite cuisine and the friendliness of the staff. Perhaps I can talk about comforable welcome and how relaxing it is staying at this hotel. Even I could talk about the multiple activities that they invite you to particpate. Surely this information would be enough... More

My daughter and I spent two nights here on our trip thru India. The weather was such a nice change from the humid beaches. The resort, is small, quiet and just what we needed. The food is amazing, enjoyed the nightly cooking classes. The accommodations are small pavilion type rooms, each individual with a porch that wraps around. Nice chairs... More

High in the mountains, this upmarket eco-lodge is delightful, with separate bungalows, carefully planted gardens, a clean pool and good restaurants. I was concerned on arrival about no air-con, but the fan above the bed did its job. We enjoyed sipping drinks on the verandah with our grown-up family at dusk. I slept poorly due to thin curtains, thick and... More

Having recently spent two nights in Spice Village as part of our honeymoon I have to say it was well worth the long trip up the mountain from Cochin. It is, as other reviews have alluded to, an oasis of calmness and serenity. Everything about the property oozes relaxation, apart from the monkeys who like to cause a bit of... More

Spice Village is one of the most environmentally-friendly properties around Kerala! Beautiful cottage houses, clean and eco-friendly rooms, friendly staff and tasty food. It's the perfect place for peaceful and relaxing holidays and still in the middle of the town!

Spice Village is owned by the same group that owns Brunton Boatyard in Kochi. Here they have emphasized their commitment to being green, and we very much appreciated that. The rooms were each in a small separate building and were clean and functional while projecting a tie to the traditional building style of the region. This is a very large... More

We very much enjoyed staying at the Spice Village. We were in "room" 111, a separate cottage. It was a bit far from the central part of the complex which made it very quiet - except, of course the sounds of nature all around - which we enjoyed. That cottage would not be a good choice if real mobility were... More

We only spent one night here, but would happily have stayed longer. Spice Village doesn't pretend to be the height of luxury, but it takes its eco credibility very seriously and, for us, succeeds really well. The staff are outstanding - they look and act as if they believe in the place and its concept. As well as the main... More

We spent a couple of nights here last month and we liked it but we didn't LOVE it. Not sure why either as it has all you need and it is quite beautiful, expect a very quiet and peaceful place. Love their green concept for sure. The restaurant was nice, I would recommend the Indian veg dishes for sure as... More
