We loved everywhere we stayed but this was our best location. The host family was excellent (Baby and Roni). They had all kinds of activities for us, visiting the tea plantation, hikes to the swimming hole, ... But our favorite activity was hiking to see a working elephant in the middle of the forest. The food here was excellent. Roni... More

Weeks after my trip to India my stay at the Vanilla Country Plantation Home Stay lingers in quiet happy little memories. A sunny quiet walk to the rubber plantation with Maju, watching the tiny brown freckles on the nose of this elegant young man as he explained how one gathers rubber, how his father loved working in the rubber plantation... We stayed there middle of this month for a day and a night. We were very satisfied with the hospitality and the place to begin with. We were received very warmly and Baby Mathew helped us to find beautiful places around. We are sad that we could make it only for a day as we think we have missed a... More

Just perfect. I won't repeat all the previous praise, but you couldn't ask for more. It is amongst the nicest places we've stayed, with the most exceptional care for their guests - you won't get better service in any five star hotel. The extraordinary staff, amazing food, brilliant activities, scenery, the house.....it really couldn't get any better. We stayed in... More

Great accommodation, fantastic food, beautiful location, Mathew and Rani were very welcoming. We spent 2 nights we would have loved to have spent longer! We had a great time with Thomas showing us the spices, tea plantations in the hills and beautiful waterfalls.

We spent three nights in the Kottayam hills, staying at Vanilla County, and enjoyed every moment. "Baby" Matthew and his wife were wonderfully attentive and kind without ever being intrusive. The food was delicious and the house itself a beautiful example of "Indian Heritage" architecture.

Mathew and his wife Rani together with their staff are very welcoming hosts and really want you to have a good time. We stayed for three nights in the main house - Vanilla room - comfortable, spacious and airy with two verandahs. Three nights (two full days ) was just right - allowed us to spend a fantastic day on... More

Guests could not be made more welcome by Baby Mathew and his wife and staff. There is every sense that they enjoy looking after you and showing you where they live (both the plantation and the surrounding area), and no sense that it is something they do as a business. The food and accommodation were both excellent but it is... More

The broad grin and outstretched hand of Baby Matthew on your arrival sums up the character of this homestay. A beautiful house built 65 yrs ago by Baby Matthew's father set in a large plantation. The food was the best we had on our trip, and with three meals a day we needed the hikes that were arranged for us.... More
