I've been traveling from many years and I slept in many hostel or guest house but I've never had such a bad experience as in johnson G H!! From outside the guest house looked it was bombed one day before, dirty all the way around and with the roof covered from a massive plastic cover. Big angry dogs and a... More

We arrived at Johnson's homestay after a long journey and were welcomely warmed into the house by the hosts and dogs, goats and horse! Very friendly staff, great location walking distance to the beach. Would recommend! We then did a trip on the Johnson's houseboat which was magical, a must do for any trip to alleppey. Again, very friendly helpful... More

We stayed here for one night from a review in Lonely Planet. We were picked up from the bus station and were looked after very well the whole evening as we arrived late (from some rather odd bus journeys). Johnson made sure we had everything we needed, and sorted out some dinner for us at his friend's place. Delicious food,... More

We spent one night on Johnson's Eco Houseboat and really enjoyed it. The booking process made me a bit nervous, as I'd had problems with the money transfer for the deposit (a problem with Western Union rather than Johnson). Also Johnson can come across a bit brusque and direct on the phone and in his emails. But when we arrived... More

Johnson sounded very professional when ringing to book a room. When we arrived the homestay was more basic than expected but the atmosphere was welcoming. The ladies working in the kitchen were particularly friendly and outgoing. Especially a young girl called Santia. We had the room at the back for a reasonable 500 rupees and it was very basic but... Johnson is certainly a character - one of our fellow travellers referred to him as Del Boy - and there were times that the booking and logistical process seemed somewhat random. That said, the houseboat trip was amazing. I'm not someone that can do nothing for very long but I found it very easy to recline in the swinging wicker... More

We chose to stay at Johnson's guesthouse in alleppey because of the recommendation in lonely planet. The room that was given to us was good - large sized room with attached bathroom & also drying room for washed clothes - unfortunately it doesn't get much better then that... The house smells like a farm & the dogs bark through out... More

I stayed at Johnson's riverside venue in December 2013. I'd found the Nest via Lonely Planet and it sounded like a safe bet when trekking up via the ferry. I'd seen that he had a riverside place, he said that there was availability and I thought I'd check it out. This is when it started getting a bit weird...Johnson quoted... More

We stayed here last year but I have only just joined Tripadvisor to leave a review. Needless to say I still feel compelled to write something about our experience here. In short, the guesthouse was not good at all, inhospitable, very dirty and dog poo everywhere...I am a dog lover but clean up after them especially when you are running... More

Short story: after a series of annoying events we felt obliged to tell Mr. Johnson that we didn’t agree on a mentioned price due to bad communication and above all terrible organization from his part. When we confronted him with our complaints WE were the ones to be blamed and got sent away from his “resort”. Long story: heading to... More
